INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team secured an at-large bid to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament as announced by the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Committee on Sunday night. The Golden Bears slotted in 17th in the final rankings, moving up two spots from 19 in the last edition of the rankings, after finishing in third place at the NSIC Championships last week.
With the selection the Golden Bears will make their first appearance at the Central Regional since the 2015-16 season when they finished in sixth place with a three round score of 902 (+38). Individually Rachel Gray finished in a tie for 10th place with a score of 223 (+7) and advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships as an individual participant.
CSP is one of five in NSIC squads to punch their ticket to the Central Regional, along with Minnesota State, Winona State, Augustana and Wayne State, who received the automatic qualifier after finishing first at the NSIC Championships.
The NCAA Central Regional is set to take place, May 4-6 at the St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Missouri.
The NCAA Division II women's golf regional competition will be conducted May 4-6. Each site will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. The number of teams and individuals from non-qualifying teams at each regionals are as follows:
Central regional: 18 teams; 6 individuals;
East regional: 18 teams, 6 individuals;
South regional: 18 teams, 6 individuals; and
West regional: 18 teams, 6 individuals.
All participants will compete through the 54 holes of competition. The top five (central), four (south), four (east) and five (west) teams along with the top two individuals not on an advancing team will advance to the championships.
The championships will be held May 12-16 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The number of participants that qualify for the finals is 98.
