MANKATO, Minn. – Following a weather-related postponement that moved the meet from Saturday to Monday, the Concordia-St. Paul track and field team wrapped up a busy week of competition at the Minnesota State Open in Mankato, Minn. on the campus of Minnesota State University.
Senior
Carter Krummen continued his strong start to the outdoor campaign for the Golden Bears, topping his personal record and hitting an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the hammer throw for the second consecutive meet. Krummen recorded a toss of 189' 0" to place second in the event, finishing behind only the reigning NCAA Division I hammer throw champion, Kostas Zaltos, who competed as an unattached athlete. Krummen moved up four spots on the national leaderboards with his new personal record and now ranks 35
th in the hammer throw in Division II this season.
Dan Otto claimed the lone event win for the CSP men, placing first in the discus throw. The senior logged a throw of 160' 1", winning the event by more than 10 feet.
In the long jump, sophomore
Cam Mata recorded a new personal record in the outdoor long jump, clearing 24' 0.75" to finish in second place.
Sophomore
Zay Acosta clocked a new personal record in the 800-meter, finishing in 1:56.50 to place third.
For the Concordia women, sophomore
Bernie Barnhardt logged a pair of top-three finishes. In the hammer throw, she finished second with a toss of 170' 10". In the discus, Barnhardt placed third with a distance of 123' 3".
In the long jump, junior
Desiree Loyd grabbed a second-place finish in the high jump after clearing 5' 4.25", a new season high.
Senior
Maya Lavendusky set a season high in the shot put, using a toss of 42' 9" to claim fourth place in the event.
