MAYETTA, Kan. — The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team notched a sixth-place finish at the Firekeeper Open this afternoon. The Golden Bears carded a collective 300 (+12) in the final round, finishing the tournament with a three-round score of 926 (+62) at the Firekeeper Golf Course.
Addi Wood capped off the tournament with a 72 (E) in the third round to card a 219 (+3) finishing in second place one stroke behind the individual leader Lanie Veenandall of Augustana. Wood notched four birdies in the final round of play, including three on the front nine where she shot a 34 to record her sixth even par or better round this season and her fifth top 10 finish of the season.
Wood's 219 is a new program 54 hole low, beating the previous three-round low of 222 set by Isabella Dory at the 2023 NSIC Championships.
Piper Hill moved up three spots on the final day of competition, carding a 74 (+2) in the third round and a 230 (+14) for the tournament, finishing in 13th place. Hill's third round was highlighted by two birdies on the front nine, before making par on every hole on the back nine to card a 36. It is the second lowest three-round score of Hill's career, one stroke off her career best of 229 at the 2024 NSIC Championships.
Rebecca DeLong carded a 77 (+5) in round three to finish the tournament with a three round score of 236 (+20) and a 23rd place finish. DeLong's 236 is the best 54 hole score of her career, besting her previous three round low of 253 at the 2024 NSIC Championships.
Ella Matzke shot a 77 (+5) in the final round as well, carding a 241 (+25) for the tournament to finish in 38th place. Matzke's 241 is a new 54 hole personal low as well, besting her previous low of 248 at last season's NSIC Championships.
Rounding out the CSP five was Darby Barstad who shot a 78 (+6) in the final round to card a 249 (+33) for the tournament, finishing in 53rd place. Barstad notched four birdies in the final round, with three coming in the front nine to move up six spots on the final day of competition.
Marina Allen competed individually and carded a 82 (+10) in the final round for a three round score of 245 (+29) and a 46th place finish. Allen's 245 is a new 54 round low, besting her previous three round low score of 254.
Nebraska-Kearney and Washburn finished in a tie atop the team leaderboard with identical scores of 908 (+44). Wayne State was the highest NSIC finisher, shooting a collective 51 over par to finish in third place, three strokes ahead of Central Oklahoma.
Lanie Veenendall of Augustana claimed the top individual spot, carding a 218 (+2) to finish one stroke ahead of Addi Wood.
The Golden Bears return to action next week at the NSIC Preview at the Adams Point Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri.
