ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's track and field teams each competed at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic hosted by Macalester College on Saturday afternoon, with the Concordia men finishing in fourth place while the CSP women finished in fifth place.
The men's team tallied a total of 65 points to finish fourth among the 13 competing teams, while the women's team finished with 61 points to take fifth out of 15 teams.
The men were highlighted by a pair of standout performances in the throws, as
Cade Feist won the shot put with a new personal best distance of 53' 9.75" and
Carter Krummen won the weight throw with a distance of 60' 1". Feist's shot put distance established a new personal record, while his weight throw distance of 56' 4.75" placed him second and was also a personal record. Krummen's weight throw distance was both a personal record and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, ranking 34
th in Division II and third in the NSIC this season.
Sophomore
Abid Alam set a new personal record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12' 3.5" to tie for 10
th place.
Senior
Maya Lavendusky set a new season best in the shot put, using a toss of 41' 10.5" to place second in the event.
Junior
Mehlayna Straub claimed the lone first-place finish for the CSP women, winning the high jump after clearing 5' 1".
Sophomore
Nevaeh Coffer set a personal record in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.06 seconds. She went on to place sixth in the finals of the event after clocking a time of 8.15 seconds.
Fellow sophomore
Genet Nies made her debut in the 600-meter, placing fourth with a time of 1:46.30.
The Golden Bears will return to Mankato for the third time this season next weekend, competing at the Mark Schuck Open and Multis on Friday and Saturday at Myers Fieldhouse on the campus of Minnesota State.
