WEST FARGO, N.D. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's swimming and diving team concluded day two of the Dragon Invite with nine top-finishes to finish first with a program-record 1,638 points on Saturday evening at the Hulbert Aquatic Center.
The Golden Bears saw themselves break a program–record points scored during an invite after previously breaking the record at the WildBear Invite in November with 1,475.5 points.
It was Sophie Leo who set the control in the pool today, finishing first in all four of her events, tallying 80 points for the team. She saw herself with a top spot in the 100-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard IM and the 100-yard freestyle to bring her season total to 13 victories.
Junior Sierra Sherry and senior Chloe Rihon continued their season-best meet, both seeing the top of the podium in their respective event. Sherry won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:30.80 for her second win of the weekend.
Rihon took the top-spot in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:11.09 for her second victory of the weekend and fifth of the season.
Junior Rebecca Hildebrand earned her second career win and first of the season, finishing with a time of 26.62 in the 50-yard butterfly.
Sophomore Zoe D'Alessandro and junior Marianna Perna rounded out the top-finishes for the Navy and Gold. D'Alessandro saw her first collegiate victory, finishing first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.46.
Perna added her second career win and first of the season, taking the top spot in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 19:48.19.
On the diving board, Mina Dahl tallied her second podium finish of the invite, finishing third in the 3-Meter dive to lead the diving effort for Concordia.
As a team, the Golden Bears notched 36 top-five and 76 top-10 finishes, bringing the weekend total to 50 top-five and 114 top-10 finishes. CSP recorded 11 event wins from six different swimmers to mark their most of the season.
The Golden Bears will return to action next Saturday, Jan. 17 for their final home meet of the year at the Two Rivers Aquatic Center. The final home meet will mark senior day for six student-athletes including Giulia Cury, Sophie Leo, Emma Granovsky, Silvana Jacquez, Caitlyn Greenwalt and Chloe Rihon.
