Golden Bears split double-dual against Wolves and Marauders

CSP will return to action on Oct. 11 at the St. Kate’s Pentathlon

9.27.25

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Concordia-St. Paul swimming and diving team split their first double-dual of the season, topping the Wolves of Northern State and narrowly falling to the Marauders of UMary on Saturday at the Aberdeen YMCA.

Following the meet, head coach Rachel Busch stated, "We had a strong opening weekend with close races and final scores. It was a thrilling way to start the season. We've identified strengths and areas to improve and we will only continue to get stronger and faster as the season progresses. As always, it was a great weekend to be a Golden Bear!"

Junior Sophie Leo highlighted the day for the Golden Bears, finishing first in both of her events and picking up right where she left off last season. Leo marked her 21st and 22nd top-finish of her collegiate career this afternoon.

Sophomore Claire Briest saw herself finish with two top-two placements, including a first-place finish in the 200 Yard IM to mark her second first-place finish in the Navy and Gold.

On the diving board, Sophomore Reese Bjorklund took home a second-place finish to earn her first collegiate win in the 1-meter dive and mark the highest diving placement of the day for CSP.

As a team, Concordia tallied five top-finishes and 25 top-five placements. The Golden Bears will return to the pool on Oct. 11 in St. Paul, Minn. to compete in the St. Kate's Pentathlon.
