Golden Bears finish in fifth at the CSP/MSU Fall Brawl

Freshman Addi Wood claimed second place in the individual competition.

HUDSON, Wisc. — The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team wrapped up play at the CSP/MSU Fall Brawl Tuesday afternoon at the Troy Burne Golf Club. The Golden Bears managed a fifth place finish in the team competition after carding a 314 (+30) in the final round. 

Concordia's performance in round two was led by freshman Addi Wood who shot a 72 (+1) on the day. Wood made par on the first 11 holes before birding the 526 yard, par five, fifth hole. Wood carded a 145 (+3) for the tournament to finish in second place on the individual leaderboard. 

Wood's one-over-par finish bests her single round score at the Tracy Lane Memorial, where she shot a 81 (+9) in the tournament's final round. 

Piper Hill tallied one birdie on the 270 yard, par four, fourth hole to shoot a 79 (+8) to finish the tournament with a score of 159 (+17) in 22nd place. 

Darby Barstad tallied four birdies in the final round to shoot a 78 (+7), for a score of 165 (+23) to finish in 43rd place. 

Junior Rebecca DeLong birdied once on the 125 yard, par three, third hole to card a 85 (+14) on the day. Shooting a 168 (+26) for the tournament, finishing in 53rd place. 

Sophomore Marina Allen birdied five times in the final round, including four on the front nine to finish the day with a score of 76 (+5), matching her single round score at the Tracy Lane Memorial.

Allen set a new two round career low, shooting a 157 (+15) for the tournament to finish in 15th place. Allen set her previous career low last season at the SMSU Spring Invitational where she shot a 167 (+23) across two rounds.

Ella Matzke tallied one birdie on the day to shoot a 87 (+16), finishing the tournament with a score of 172 (+30) in 61st place. 

Minnesota State came out on top, shooting a 298 (+14) in the final round and 599 (+31) across both rounds to finish 10 strokes ahead of second place Washburn. Winona State finished in third and Northwest Missouri finished five strokes ahead on CSP in fourth. 

Victoria Woytassek of Minnesota State finished atop the individual leaderboard, shooting a 70 (-1) in the final round to card a 144 (+2) for the tournament. Addi Wood took second finishing one stroke behind Woytassek. 

The Golden Bears next event is the Watkins Invitational hosted by Winona State at the Jewel in Lake City, Minnesota on Sept. 22-23.
