ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Tommy Marker led the Golden Bear men's golf team on day two at the NCAA Central/Midwest Regional with a score of 71 (E). Concordia shot 299 (+15) in the round for a total of 593 (+25) to finish tied for 13th place.Â
Marker's Friday round jumped him up 12 spots to tie for 17th at 145 (+3). He shot 35 (E) on the front nine and 36 (E) on the back nine at the par-71 St. Joseph Country Club. Marker tallied 14 pars on the day with birdies to close each round on holes nine and 18.Â
The senior's 25 total pars in the tournament is tied for the fifth-most by any golfer. Marker is even on par threes at the tournament, tying for the second-best score. Friday's round ties Thomas Gutzmer's Thursday round for the fourth-best at an NCAA Regional in program history.
Tyler Debruyckere matched his first round with another 75 (+4) on Friday for a total of 150 (+8). He finished round two strong shooting two-under-par on the last six holes with birdies on holes 16 and 18. The freshman shot a team-high three birdies in round two and leads CSP in overall birdies with six.Â
Trey Timm shot 76 (+5) in the second round after shooting 74 (+3) in the first round for a total of 150 (+8). He and Debruyckere are both tied for 53rd place in the tournament. Timm ended his second round with back-to-back birdies on the final two holes. The junior is one-over-par on par threes, tying for the fifth-best score of any golfer.Â
Gutzmer shot 77 (+6) after his 71 (E) on Thursday for a total of 148 (+6). The senior shot 39 (+4) on the front nine and 38 (+2) on the back nine. He tallied birdies on hole 12 and hole 17 to finish the round even on the last six holes. Gutzmer is tied for 37th place heading into the final round.Â
Josh Esterley shot 81 (+10) in the second round for a total of 157 (+15) after his 76 (+5) on Thursday. He started his day with a birdie on hole one and is tied for 94th place.Â
The Golden Bears are in a four-way tie for 13th place with Washburn (Mo.), Henderson State (Ark.) and Southern Arkansas. The Golden Bears finished the day nine strokes behind Arkansas Tech and Findlay (Ohio) tied for third place at 584 (+16). The top four teams at the tournament will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships.Â
Central Oklahoma continues to lead the team field with a score of 572 (+4) after shooting 292 (+8) in the second round. Saginaw Valley State is in second place at 583 (+15) after shooting 286 (+2) on Friday. Washburn had the best second round of any team on Friday shooting 281 (-3).Â
Washburn's Marco Anderson shot an impressive 63 (-8) on Friday to lead the individual field with a total of 138 (-4). Leo Baudry of Missouri-St. Louis, Manuel Cue of Grand Valley State, Landon Lawson of Arkansas Tech and Jiseung Choi of Saginaw Valley State are all tied for second shooting 140 (-2). The top two individuals not on a qualifying team will make it to the National Championships.Â
The Golden Bears will be in action on Saturday for the third and final round of the NCAA Central/Midwest Regional.
