Golden Bear women’s basketball has four starters recognized for CSC Academic All-District®

Bengtson, Dengerud, Gamble and Haack selected for honor

GREENWOOD, Ind. - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic-All District® Team was released on Tuesday afternoon and four Golden Bears were named for the award. Julia Bengtson, Leah Dengerud, Megan Gamble and Lydia Haack were the four CSP women's basketball players selected. 

The Golden Bears reached the maximum number of honorees of four players for the third straight season. Haack is up for consideration for Academic All-America honors which will be revealed on April 16. 

Gamble and Dengerud become two-time CSC Academic All-District® selections after earning the honor last season. This is Bengtson's and Haack's first selection of their careers. 

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 15, 2025 (men) and April 16, 2025 (women).

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.

#21 Julia Bengtson (G, 5-10, Sr., Becker, Minn. / Becker HS)

  • 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District® Team
  • Started and appeared in all 32 games this season
  • Averaged 9.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game
  • Scored a career-high 28 points at Sioux Falls
  • Helped the Golden Bears achieve the most wins in a season in program history
  • 2024-25 NSIC Regular Season and Tournament Conference Champion

#1 Leah Dengerud (G, 5-9, Jr., Lino Lakes, Minn. / Totino-Grace HS)

  • 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District® Team
  • 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District® Team
  • Started in 31 out of 32 games this season
  • Averaged 9.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, two assists and 1.3 steals per game
  • Scored a career-high 27 points against Minnesota State
  • 11th all-time in program career history with 113 made 3-point field goals
  • Made 58 3-pointers this season, tying for the 15th most in program history
  • Eighth in the NSIC in 3-point field goals per game
  • Helped the Golden Bears achieve the most wins in a season in program history
  • 2024-25 NSIC Regular Season and Tournament Conference Champion

#25 Megan Gamble (F, 5-11, Sr., Clear Lake, Minn. / Becker HS)

  • 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District® Team
  • 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District® Team
  • 2022-23 NSIC Elite 18 Award
  • Started in 30 out of 32 games this season
  • Averaged 5.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game
  • Finished career playing 113 games, tying for the 16th most in program history
  • Grabbed 542 career rebounds ranking 19th in program history
  • Eighth in the NSIC in rebounding average this season
  • Helped the Golden Bears achieve the most wins in a season in program history
  • 2024-25 NSIC Regular Season and Tournament Conference Champion

#23 Lydia Haack (G, 5-3, Jr., Elk River, Minn. / Elk River HS)

  • 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District® Team
  • 2024-25 All-NSIC First Team
  • 2022-23 All-NSIC South Division First Team (Upper Iowa)
  • 2020-21 NSIC South Division All-Freshman Team (Upper Iowa)
  • Started all 32 games for the Golden Bears
  • Averaged 16.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.7 steals
  • Ranked 25th in the nation in total assists (145) and 36th in total points (538)
  • Ranked sixth in the NSIC in points per game and second in assists per game
  • Posted a career-high 35 points in CSP's 62-53 victory over MSU Moorhead 
  • Scored 30 points in an 82-74 win over Sioux Falls (2/6/25)
  • Recorded two double-doubles this season, dishing out a season-high 10 assists in both games
  • Helped the Golden Bears achieve the most wins in a season in program history
  • 2024-25 NSIC Regular Season and Tournament Conference Champion
