Maher wins 200 Freestyle; CSP swim and dive in fifth after day two of the NSIC Championships

WEST FARGO, N.D. - The Concordia St. Paul swimming and diving team wrapped up a strong day two of the 2024-2024 NSIC Conference Championships at the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo N.D, holding their fifth place spot in the team standings with 208 points. 

Farida Maher once again made history for the Golden Bears, winning the 200 yard freestyle for the second year in a row to solidify herself as a three-time NSIC Conference Champion. She finished with a time of 1:50.35 to earn herself All-Conference accolades for the 11th time and an NCAA B-Cut. 

Chloe Rihon continued her successful championship, taking home sixth place in the 400 IM while breaking the school record and improving her time by almost three seconds from the preliminary round to finals. 

Diver Caitlyn Greenwalt added another podium finish to her accolades, finishing in fourth place with a score of 404.70 in the 1-Meter dive. Greenwalt solidified herself as the first-ever Golden Bear diver to reach finals at the NSIC Conference Championships two years in a row. 

The 400 medley relay of Sophie Leo, Claire Briest, Silvana Jacquez and Farida Maher shattered the previous CSP school record with a time of 3:53.58 to finish on the podium in fifth place and earn the team 32 points. 

The Golden Bears will return to action tomorrow at 10 a.m. for prelims in the 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast and 200 fly. Finals for each event will start at 5:30 p.m. and will conclude with the 200 free relay.
