CSP swim and dive returns to action at St. Kate’s Pentathlon and Hamline Diving Invite

Action will take place on Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul swimming and diving team returns to action this Saturday to participate in the St. Kate's Pentathlon and Hamline Diving Invite both taking place in St. Paul, Minn. 

Diving will take place at the Bush Center Pool on the campus of Hamline University with first splash at 10 a.m.

Swimming will compete at the Butler Center on the campus of St. Catherine University with action beginning at 11 a.m.

NSU Relays: 1st of 4 | 216 Points
The win marked the first season-opening win for the Golden Bears since the inception of the program in 2021. It also marks the first victory at the NSU Relays for the team.

Double-Dual vs. NSU & UMary
Junior Sophie Leo highlighted the double-dual  for the Golden Bears, finishing first in both of her events and picking up right where she left off last season. Leo marked her 21st and 22nd top-finish of her collegiate career this afternoon.

Sophomore Claire Briest saw herself finish with two top-two placements, including a first-place finish in the 200 Yard IM to mark her second first-place finish in the Navy and Gold. 

On the diving board, Sophomore Reese Bjorklund took home a second-place finish to earn her first collegiate win in the 1-meter dive and mark the highest diving placement of the dual for CSP. 

As a team, Concordia tallied five top-finishes and 25 top-five placements.

WEEKEND INFORMATION 
Diving Information: Divers will complete 11 dives on the 1-Meter platform and six dives on the 3-Meter platform. 

Swimming Information: All swimmers will compete in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 IM, 100 Breaststroke and 100 freestyle. Everyone will score points, with 1st place equaling the number of competitors and last place earning one point. Results will be added up for both team and individual scores. 

Competing Teams: 
Diving: Concordia-St. Paul, Hamline and St. Kate's.

Swimming : Concordia-St. Paul, St. Kate's, St. Ben's, Hamline, Concordia-Moorhead and Augsburg. 

HISTORY AT ST. KATE'S PENTATHLON
The Navy and Gold have participated in the St. Kate's Pentathlon two times prior to this season dating back to October 15, 2022. In their first meet, the Golden Bears finished third out of five teams with 148 points. They were led by Chloe Rihon who scored a team-leading 65 points for fourth place. 

Concordia returned to the meet in the 2023-24 season where they finished in 3rd place with a score of 1604 points to  increase their score by nearly 1,500 points. Leading the squad was Sophie Leo with 202 points for seventh place and Rihon with 196 points for ninth place. 

HISTORY AT HAMLINE DIVING INVITE

This will be the Golden Bears first time appearance at the Hamline Diving Invite.
