Golden Bear men finish 22nd, women place 33rd at Blugold Invitational

Andrew Boyum led the way for CSP in the 8k, while Lauryn Rosenthal was Concordia’s top finisher in the 6k.

COLFAX, Wisc. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's cross country teams competed at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wisconsin on Friday morning. The CSP men's team managed a 22nd place finish in the varsity 8k, while the women placed 33rd in the varsity 6k.

Andrew Boyum was the Golden Bears top finisher on the men's side coming in with a time of 27:17.9. Boyum's time is a new season low, besting his time of 28:24.1 at the Roy Griak Invite to finish in 139th place. 

Sophomore Travis Tock came in shortly behind Boyum, finishing with a time of 27:28.6 in 148th place,  improving his 8k time from the Griak by a full minute. 

Freshman Brock Johnson ran his first collegiate 8k, coming in with a time of 27:38.2 in 152nd place. Matthew Urgiles-Suarez improved on his Griak time of 29:55.2, the freshman ran a 28:23.7 to finish in 196th place. 

Zay Acosta ran a 28:51.2 good for 22oth place, a 30 second improvement from his time at the Griak. Jordan Stumm finished 246th with a time of 29:41.7 and Joshua Krummel ran a 31:14.6 to come in 281st. 

Concordia earned 649 placement points to finish in 22nd place, finishing ahead of  Wisconsin-Superior. Minnesota-Crookston was the top NSIC finisher coming in 18th with 547 placement points. 

Wisconsin-Platteville claimed the top spot in the team competition with 104 placement points and one runner in the top 10. 

Augsburg's Mohammed Bati claimed the top individual spot, running the 8k in 24:39.6. Noah Revels of Minnesota-Crookston was the top individual finisher among NSIC competitors coming in with a time of 26:47.8. 

On the women's side, freshman Lauryn Rosenthal came in as CSP's top finisher with a time of 25:37.0 in 204th place. Rosenthal improved nearly two minutes from her Griak time of 27:12.3. 

Senior Nyadio Chan came in behind Rosenthal with a time of 25:50.o to finish 214th. Chan improved on her Griak time of 26:25.8. 

Freshman Kayla Anderson came in 268th with a time of 27:01.5, Chole Rihon made her collegiate cross country debut finishing the 6k with a time of 29:51.1 in 317th place. 

Chloe Rihon competed in her first collegiate cross country race, finishing 317th with a time of 29:51.1, Elise Atkins rounded things out for the Golden Bear coming in 333rd with a time of 34:22.2. 

CSP finished in 22nd place in the team event with 1,023 placement points, coming in ahead of St. Kate's with 1,026 points. 

Wisconsin-La Crosse claimed the top team spot, with 117 placement points. Minnesota-Duluth was the top NSIC finisher coming in third with 147 placement points, behind second place Wisconsin-Eau Claire with 132 points. 

Claire Vukovics of Carleton claimed the top spot in the individual competition finishing the 6k in 21:45.7. Shaelyn Hostager of Minnesota-Duluth was the top NSIC finisher, coming in fourth with a time of 22:02.4. 

The Golden Bears will now head to Romeoville, Illinois for the Lewis Invitational hosted by Lewis University on Saturday, Oct. 11.
