CSP swim and dive to host MSU and SMSU in double-dual

Action will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul swimming and diving team returns to the pool, hosting the Mavericks of Minnesota State and Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State in a double-dual on Saturday at 12 p.m.  

This week's meet will mark the first home event for the Golden Bears of the season, taking place at the Two Rivers Aquatic Center located in Mendota Heights, Minn.

Golden Bears took the top spot at both the St. Kate's Pentathlon and Hamline Diving Invite

Highlighting the meet for the Golden Bears was Sophie Leo who was the highest finisher for the Navy and Gold, taking second place overall with 413 points. This is Leo's highest finish at the St. Kate's Pentathlon. 

Chloe Rihon and Claire Briest wrapped-up the top-five placements for Concordia, each recording over 380 points in the meet. 

In the individual races, the Golden Bears finished with 14 top-five placements and a single top-finish by Leo in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.23. 

On the diving board, Reese Bjorklund and Chloe Jones each took a first-place finish with Bjorlund in the 1-meter and Jones in the 3-meter to give CSP the diving sweep.

HISTORY AGAINST MSU
The two programs have met a total of six times in duals dating back to October 15, 2021. MSU holds a 6-0 all-time record. 

The two teams most recently met last season in a double-dual with St. Thomas where the Mavericks topped the Golden Bears.

ABOUT THE MAVERICKS
MSU were picked to finish first in the 2025-26 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 77 points and 6 first-place votes after finishing second at the 2024-25 NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships. 

The Mavericks currently sit at 0-1 in duals this season after falling to South Dakota 281.5-81.5 to open their season. 

Last weekend, Minnesota State took first place at the St. Cloud Invite with 775 points. 

HISTORY AGAINST SMSU
The two programs have met a total of seven times in duals dating back to October 15, 2021. SMSU holds a 6-1 all-time record. 

Last season, the Golden Bears marked their first win over the Mustangs by a score of 183-135. The Navy and Gold were led by last year's senior Farida Maher who took first in the 500-yard freestyle. 

The two programs saw each other earlier this season at the Northern State Relays where CSP took the top spot and SMSU placed third. 

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
SMSU were picked to finish eighth in the 2025-26 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 31 points after finishing in seventh at the 2024-25 NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships. 

The Mustangs currently sit at 0-1 in duals after falling 165-113 against Western Colorado.
