LARCHWOOD, Iowa — The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team completed the first round of the USF Invitational at the Grand Falls Golf Course in Larchwood, Iowa on Monday. The Golden Bears shot a collective 318 (+30) to finish the day in fourth place.
Piper Hill led the way for the Golden Bears, carding a career low 72 (E) to end the day atop the individual leaderboard. Hill collected five birdies and one eagle in the opening round, birdying twice in her first eight holes.
Hill went on a run from there with a birdie on hole one, followed by an eagle on the 465 yard, par five, second hole, capping off the three hole run with a birdie on hole three. Hill birdied once more on hole seven to end the day at even par and tied for first place.
Ella Matzke carded a 81 (+9) in the opening round, with her highlight of the day being an eagle on the 340 yard, par four, third hole, finishing the day in 20th place.
Freshman Addi Wood shot a 82 (+10) in the opening 18 holes, birdying once on the 465 yard, par five, second hole. Wood also added seven pars to the scorecard to finish round one in 31st place.
Darby Barstad tallied two birdies on holes seven and 18 to card a 83 (+11), finishing the day in 34th place.
Rebecca DeLong rounded out the CSP five, carding a 85 (+13) in round one. DeLong birdied once on the 370 yard, par four, 12th hole to finish the day in 43rd place.
Winona State finished the day in first on the team leaderboard, the Warriors shot a collective 307 (+19) in the opening round. Wayne State currently sits in second and Minnesota State sits in third two strokes ahead of CSP.
Lindsey Lund of Winona State is tied with Hill atop the individual leaderboard, two strokes ahead of Wayne State's Hailey Kenkel in third.
The Golden Bears are back in action at the Grand Falls Golf Course for the final round of the USF Invitational.
