Harbo becomes four-time National Champion in the high jump

CSP senior caps off incredible career with 11th All-America selection

5.25.24

EMPORIA, Kan. – Concordia-St. Paul senior Arika Harbo wrapped up her collegiate career as a four-time National Champion in the high jump as she took home the top spot on day three of the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday.

It was the perfect way to conclude her record-setting and unprecedented run for the Golden Bears as she claimed the title for the fourth time in her last five trips to the NCAA Championships.

In addition, the senior added her program-record tally as the result marked her 11th time earning All-America honors, one day after reaching double figures with a First Team All-America performance in the heptathlon. Six of her 11 All-America nods have come in the high jump, five of which being on the First Team.

Harbo took care of business on the day as she cleared two more bars than any other competitor. With nine still in the competition at the 5' 8.50" mark, the field started to thin out quickly as she was one of five to move on. Three of the other four were knocked out at the 5' 9.75" bar while the one remaining athlete passed on that height, leaving Harbo as the only one to clear it, doing so on her first attempt. She made it five consecutive bars without a miss at 5' 10.75" while the only other competitor, Colorado Mesa's Josie Coffey, fell short on all three of her attempts.

Harbo's 14 points at the NCAA Outdoor Championships put the Golden Bears inside the top 10 in the team standings through 14 of 21 events.
