CSP swim and dive travel to face NSU and UMary

Saturday’s dual is scheduled for 12 p.m.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia- St. Paul swimming and diving team returns to the pool this Saturday Dec. 7 in a double-dual against the Northern State Wolves and the University of Mary Marauders. Action will take place at the BSC Aquatic and Wellness Center in Bismarck, N.D. starting at 12 p.m. 

On this weekend's meet, head coach Rachel Busch stated, "We are competing in a very different lineup of events this weekend by doing a sprint pentathlon. Each of the women will swim a 50 of each stroke, as well as the 100 IM. The meet will also feature a fun t-shirt relay at the end!"

Busch added, "We are excited to travel and race in all the strokes this Saturday."

The Golden Bears are coming off their best meet of the season where they finished second out of seven teams at the WildBear Invite and tallied numerous school records and saw two athletes put themselves on the national list.

Caitlyn Greenwalt sweeped the diving events to qualify for nationals in the 3-Meter Dive and break a school record with an 11 dive score of 464.20 and a six dive score of 290.65. She has punched her ticket to nationals for the second year in a row. 

Chloe Rihon broke four school records including the 200 yard IM and the 400 yard IM. She finished the invite with three top-five placements. 

Farida Maher once again shined in the pool for the Golden Bears, finishing with five top-five placements and her seventh win of the season. Maher also finished the meet with two B Cuts in the 100 yard freestyle and the 200 yard freestyle to put herself on the national list. 

Sophie Leo finished with three top-three placements to mark her strongest meet of the season. 

The relay of Maher, Leo, Rebeca Hildebrand and Emma Granovsky wrapped up the invite breaking the school record in the 400 yard freestyle relay to continue their dominant run. 

The Golden Bears as a team had their strongest meet of the season with every single athlete tallying their best times and scores of the season.

HISTORY AGAINST NSU
The two programs have met a total of five times in duals dating back to October 1, 2021. Northern holds a 5-0 all-time advantage and last season took a very close 110-102 win over Concordia. The two teams recently met at the WildBear Invite where the Golden Bears finished 447 points ahead of the Wolves. 

At the 2024 NSIC Conference Championships, CSP finished in fifth place with 378 points while NSU finished in eighth place with 268 points. 

ABOUT THE WOLVES
NSU were picked to finish seventh in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing in eighth place at the 2024 NSIC Championships. 

The Wolves currently sit at 1-5 in duals this season after falling to Southwest Minnesota, UMary, MSU Moorhead and Sioux Falls. They got their first win of the season on Oct. 2 against Jamestown 121-117.

HISTORY AGAINST UMARYThe two programs have met a total of three times in duals dating back to October 1, 2021. CSP holds a 2-1 all-time advantage and last season took a 150-126 win over the Marauders. The two teams recently met at the WildBear Invite where the Golden Bears finished 302 points ahead of UMary. 

At the 2024 NSIC Conference Championships, CSP finished in fifth place with 378 points with UMary finishing right behind them in sixth with 301 points, making this weekend's dual a competitive matchup. 

ABOUT THE MARAUDERS 
UMary were picked to finish eighth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing in sixth place at the 2024 NSIC Championships. 

The Marauders currently sit at 3-1 in duals this season after taking two wins over Northern State, a win over Southwest Minnesota and falling in a close meet with MSU Moorhead.
