MIAMI, Fla.- Concordia-St. Paul swimming and diving opened 2024 with a sixth-place finish at the FIU Sprint Invite on Wednesday afternoon at Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
The Golden Bears will return to action on Jan. 12-13 for the Dragon Invite hosted by MSU Moorhead. Action from the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo, North Dakota, is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
"We are grateful for the opportunity to compete and train in Florida this week," head coach
Rachel Busch said following the meet. CSP swim and dive will remain in Miami for skills training and team-building activities for the remainder of the week.
Concordia-St. Paul battled a strong field to finish sixth with 31 points ahead of Berry, Massachusetts Amherst and Penn West-California. Host institution Florida International claimed the meet with a final score of 636. Brigham Young finished second with 518 points, followed by South Dakota (302) and Alabama (62).
Caitlyn Greenwalt led the Golden Bears and shined in a talented diving field. The sophomore finished seventh in the three-meter dive with a score of 221.10 and 13th in the one-meter dive with a score of 156.00 to finish with a team-leading 18 points.
Sophie Leo added another strong performance to her freshman resume. The Blaine, Minnesota native led the swimmers with nine points and five top-25 performances (preliminaries included).
