TITLE IX SPOTLIGHT, Women's Golf

CSP celebrates the 50th anniversary of Title IX

5.30.23

ST. PAUL, Minn. – In honor of the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, the Concordia-St. Paul athletic department will be spotlighting its nine female athletic programs throughout the 2022-23 school year. The seventh spotlight is the CSP women's golf program.

Title IX has given me the opportunity to succeed as a female collegiate athlete. I have been able to create relationships with others that have shaped me into the person I am today. I have been supported and encouraged throughout my college journey and that is something I am forever grateful for.

Title IX has paved the way for equality in sports. From my experience, it meant that our postseason play (regionals and nationals) was treated equally to that of the men's sports. Having made post season play each year of competing, our team had an amazing experience on and off the golf course. Title IX allows an equal playing field for both the men’s and women’s teams which was beneficial when it came to coaching!

Title IX opened the door for young women to pursue their dreams in collegiate sports. As the head coach of a women’s collegiate team, we are so proud of the way sports shape our athletes lives, and the opportunities they earn through hard work, grit and determination. Sport is the ultimate preparation and parallel to life. We can’t think of a better way to support and prepare our ladies for the world, than through sports.
