ST. PAUL, Minn.- Concordia-St. Paul swimmer,
Farida Maher, will return to her native country of Egypt to compete at the 2023 Egypt Swimming Cup on Mar. 14-20 in Alexandria, Egypt. The Golden Bear will compete in the 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 freestyle swims throughout the course of the week.Â

Maher is coming off an impressive showing at the 2023 NSIC Swimming and Diving Championships last February 8-11 in Fargo, N.D. The sophomore was named NSIC All-Conference in the 100, 200, 500 and 1000 freestyles after finishing runner-up in each event with B-Cut and school record times. In total, Maher has collected six all-conference honors at Concordia and was named the 2021-22 NSIC Freshman Swimmer of the Year.

Along with her success in the pool, Maher has also excelled in the classroom. She made history by being one of the inaugural CSP swimmers named CSC Academic-All District and is expected to be named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. The Golden Bears have been named CSCAA Scholar All-America Team for two consecutive semesters and Maher's dedication in the classroom has greatly impacted the team's overall grade point average.Â
