MANKATO, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul men's track and field team sits in fourth place in the NSIC Indoor Championships after day one while the women's team had a pair of athletes qualify for finals at Myers Fieldhouse on Saturday.
The Golden Bear men tallied 23 points on the meet's first day to put themselves in fourth, three points behind Northern State in third and five points behind Wayne State in second.
Jakob Tordsen played a big role in the team's strong day one performance as his third-place finish in the high jump earned him All-Conference honors and six points while his sixth-place finish in the pole vault brought his point total to nine for the day. Tordsen was busy on the day as he also led all competitors through four events in the heptathlon as he comfortably paced the field with 3070 points. He followed up taking third in the 60m by finishing in the top spot in each of the final three heptathlon events (long jump, shot put and high jump) on the day.
Eben Mundfrom finished just a point behind Tordsen on the day as his distance of 62' 9.25" in the weight throw was good for second place, eight points and an All-Conference selection.
Calder Erick followed Tordsen in the heptathlon as he registered first-place finish in the 60m to go along with second-place finishes in the long jump and shot put to put him in second overall with 2804 points.
