MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul swimming and diving dropped a hard-fought dual, 161-119, to No. 21 Sioux Falls at Two Rivers Aquatics Center on Saturday. At today's meet, CSP celebrated international student-athletes from 11 different nations between both teams.
The Golden Bears will return to action after the New Year on January 3 at the FIU Sprint Invite in Miami, Florida. Action from the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center is set for a 10 a.m. start time.
"It was fun to swim some races that we don't race as often throughout the season," commented Head Coach
Rachel Busch. "The team put up a strong fight against the Cougars and we will look forward to practicing with them Monday morning at our home pool."
Caitlyn Greenwalt shined from the diving board for the Golden Bears. In the three-meter dive (11 Dives), the sophomore punched her ticket to the 2023 NCAA Division II Championships after tallying a qualifying score of 435.10. In addition, she added nine points - bringing her meet total to 18 - with a score of 253.20 in the one-meter dive (6 Dives).
Farida Maher led the swimmers with a 3-0 showing to finish with a team-leading 27 points. The junior finished with wins in the 50, 200 and 500-yard freestyle swims. Also,
Sophie Leo added a pair of wins in the 50 and 100-yard backstroke to build onto her impressive freshman resume and finish with 22 points, while
Chloe Rihon added a first-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke.
For the second straight week, freshman
Rebecca Hildebrand broke a school record for the Golden Bears. The Aurora, Colorado native finished with a time of 27.31 to claim the school record in the 50-yard butterfly after securing the 100-yard butterfly school record just a week ago.
In relay action, the team of
