ST. PAUL, Minn. - CSP swimming and diving made history at the Roger Ahlman Invite on Saturday night after claiming their first-ever victory at an invitational in thrilling fashion with 658 points inside tallied Riley Pool.
The Golden Bears will look to carry their momentum into dual action as they host the No. 21 Sioux Falls Cougars next Saturday in Mendota Heights. Action from Two Rivers Aquatics Center is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start time.
After the victory, head coach
Rachel Busch said, "We are ecstatic to collect our program's first invite win! It was a true team effort to battle with such strong opponents in Macalester and St. Kate's." Busch added, "Our women were resilient in their pursuit of winning the meet, collecting numerous lifetime bests, season bests, and team records. The positive energy and support amongst the team was contagious and truly a special meet to be a part of."
The Golden Bears edged host Macalester College in the team standings by only two points to secure the historic victory with a final team score of 658. St. Kate's also had a strong showing in the pool, as the Wildcats finished with 640 points of their own.
Farida Maher added to her impressive start to the season with a trio of first-place finishes to lead the team with 60 points. The junior claimed top finishes in the 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyles while adding her first NCAA B-Cut time of 1:53.08 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Freshman
Sophie Leo added a pair of wins and new school records in both the 100-yard backstroke and in the 200-yard backstroke that had just been broken by
Chloe Rihon, who added 48 points with a second-place finish in the 400 IM, a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke and a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. In addition,
Rebecca Hildebrand added a new school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.26.
Caitlyn Greenwalt was impressive in the meet after claiming 47 points in the diving competition. The sophomore set a new school record in the three-meter dive with a score of 418.65 and added a second-place finish in the one-meter dive for the Navy and Gold.
In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay team of

Charly Horn,
Rebecca Hildebrand and
Farida Maher set a new record in the event with a time of 1:48.94, while Leo added a school record in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 26.86. Another school record fell in the 200-yard freestyle relay after the team of
Farida Maher,
Chloe Rihon,
Emma Granovsky and
Rebecca Hildebrand clocked in a time of 1:40.65. In the final event of the night, the team of
Sophie Leo,
Marianna Perna,
Zoe Hiers and
Emma Granovsky locked the team race with a school record time of 3:39.46 to finish second in the event.
