Taylor Zack (+8) opened the second of three rounds on Tuesday afternoon by delivering a par on the first eight holes to extend his streak to 14 consecutive holes with a par at TPC Michigan in the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, hosted by Wayne State University in Metro Detroit.
Zack closed out his first round by sinking pars on the final six holes, and opened round two with a par on the first eight holes and was +1 at the turn.
He was dialed in throughout the early going, moving up as many as 15 spots on the individual leaderboard to a ninth place tie as he was even through eight holes.
He wrapped up the round with a 78 (+6) and is tied for 46th in the field of the country's top golfers, a field of 108 players.
He would sink his first birdie of the afternoon on hole 14, a 455-yard par 4 that brought him back to +2. He extended his sub-80 round streak to 13 rounds dating back to the first round of the Mrach 31 NSIC Preview Invitational.
His run of pars at the end of round one and the beginning of round two give him 21 for the tournament, ranking 36th in the tournament. He continues to be among the top performers in the tournament on par 4 holes, tying for 12th with a +2 cumulative performance while playing steady +1 golf on par 5s.
The tournament's individual leaderboard features a three-way tie at the top at -2 between Keegan Bronnenberg of Indianapolis, Holden Hamilton of Arkansas Tech and Oliver Mast of Indianapolis. #25 UIndy (+14) also leads the team field by a stroke over second-ranked Arkansas Tech (+15) while two others are +16, the fifth-place team at +17 and sixth-place at +18. The competitive team standings feature the top-10 teams separated by just eight strokes.
Taylor Zack will hit the tee for the final time as a Golden Bear at 8:09 a.m. (CT) in a group comprised of Jace Carlisle of Post (t-91, +17), Liam Allder of Cal State Monterey Bay (t-73, +13), Matthew Pennington of Cal State San Marcos (t-60, +10) and AJ Cavotta of Southern New Hampshire (t-54, +9).
When Zack hits the tee box, he'll do so with a temperature of 55 degrees, a 24 percent chance of rain and a light ESE 5 mph wind. Temperatures will only reach a high of 60 in the early afternoon, with the chance of rain increasing to 78 percent at 2 p.m. and remaining persistent the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening hours.
