Golden Bears set to host Holst Invitational on Saturday

16 schools set to compete at Sea Foam Stadium

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul track and field teams return home this weekend for the Holst Invitational as student-athletes from 16 different schools will converge on Sea Foam Stadium on Saturday.
 
MEET INFORMATION
The Golden Bears will be joined by student-athletes from Augsburg, Bethel, Hamline, Macalester, Minnesota, Minnesota State, Minnesota Duluth, MSU Moorhead, North Central, Northwestern, St. Catherine, St. Cloud State, St. Olaf, St. Scholastica and St. Thomas in the program's annual home meet. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday with field events while the first running event is set for 10:30 a.m.

New this year to Golden Bears is online ticketing. Buy tickets in advance and bring your QR code to the gates to skip the line! Friends and families who utilize the pass list will also be utilizing the online ticketing service while all students, faculty & staff will access their free CSP tickets through the service. Fans do not need to create a login, remember a username or password or download an app to purchase tickets, and tickets can still be purchased with cash at the gates. LAST TIME OUT
Last week, CSP collected 10 wins and 27 top-five finishes this week as they competed at the Tomcat Twilight on Wednesday night and the William Penn Statesemen Invitational on Thursday and Friday.
 
At the Tomcat Twilight, the men's team collected 15 top-10 finishes, including four in the top-five, while the women picked up 13 results inside the top-10, including seven in the top five.
 
Ella Paaverud took home the team's lone individual win in the meet as she cleared 5'5" in the high jump. Both the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams joined her in bringing home the top spot on the day.
 
At the William Penn Statesmen Invitational, the women shined as they had six wins spread over five different athletes while the men added another win among their six top-five finishes.
 
Cece Lewis grabbed a pair of victories in Iowa as she claimed the top spot in both the 200m and 400m. Lewis wrapped up the 200m in 26.10 seconds and the 400m in 1:00.47. Lauryn Samuel added a win in the 100m with a time of 12.65 in the final while also taking fourth in the 200m with a time of 26.71.
 
For the men, Thomas Schauerman took first in the 1500m with a time of 4:04.82 to collect the lone win.
 
LAST YEAR AT THE HOLST INVITATIONAL
Back on April 17, 2021, the Golden Bears captured 20 top-three finishes and broke four school records in the process.
 
For the women, Toni Canfall was excellent in the sprints as she finished first and shattered her own school record in the 100m with an NCAA DII provisional qualifying time of 11.57. Lucia Mesfin was also a standout, finishing third and breaking the school record in the 10000m with a time of 38:00.87.
 
Christabelle Mulcahy had a solid outing, taking second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.25.
 
On the men's side, Marcus Gustaveson continued his record-breaking season, this time breaking the school record in the shot put and winning the event with an NCAA DII provisional qualifying throw of 16.95m. The senior also finished second in the discus with a throw of 49.72m.
 
Hunter Quinn also placed well in the throwing events, taking second place in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.43m.
 
Christian Davis had a monster day in the jumps, winning the long jump with a distance of 7.23m and taking second in the high jump with a height of 1.95m.
