CSP track and field opened the 2022-23 indoor season with a pair of events

Harbo and Tordsen set school records at the Liberty Kickoff Invitational

MANKATO, Minn.- Concordia-St. Paul track and field kicked off the 2022-23 indoor season this weekend at the Liberty Kickoff Invitational in Lynchburg, Va., and the Chuck Peterson Open in Mankato, Minn.
 
LIBERTY KICKOFF INVITATIONAL
Arika Harbo and Jakob Tordsen represented the Golden Bears at the Liberty Kickoff Invitational last Friday. The event featured Division I and Division II athletes from across the country. 
 
Arika Harbo picked up right where she left off a season ago with a new school in the pentathlon with 3848 points and a second overall finish. She recorded three first-place finishes in the 60m hurdles, high jump and long jump in route to the record-setting performance.

The NSIC Preseason Field Athlete of the Year, Jakob Tordsen, started the season strong with a new school record in the heptathlon with a score of 5280 and a second-overall finish in the event. The senior finished first in the high jump, along with runner-up finishes in the long jump, shot put, 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m dash.

CHUCK PETERSON OPEN
CSP concluded the opening weekend of the 2022 indoor season on Saturday at the Chuck Peterson Open.
 
The men finished fourth in a field of 10 teams with a score of 59, while the women finished sixth in a field of 10 with a score of 27. The Minnesota State Mavericks claimed first place in the team standings in both the men's (231) and women's (285) divisions.
 
Emmett Faltesek collected the lone top finish for the Golden Bears at the meet. The sophomore would set a personal best in the mile run with a time of 4:26.75. He would add a fifth-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:05.03.
 
Eben Mundfrom added a second-place finish in the weight throw with an NCAA Division II provisional mark distance of 59' 3" for the Golden Bears.
 
Carolina Scott led the women with a second-place finish in the 1000m with a personal best time of 3:44.60. She also added an eighth-place finish in the 600m with a time of 1:53.49.
 
The 400x100 relay team of Michaella Hartinger, Gianna Bedford, Karina Zimmerman and Sydney Jackson collected a third-place finish with a time of 4:17. 76
