Eight Golden Bears named Academic All-District

They each advance to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America ballot

GREENWOOD, Ind. - The 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Teams have been announced with eight selections representing Concordia-St. Paul football recognized: Jac Carver, Davaris Cheeks, Conner Cordts, Parker Dahlman, Brayden Hilgemann, El-Osiris Jeudy, Sam Marshalek, and Jack Munsterteiger.

The group consists of a mix of offensive, defensive, special teams, skill positions, linemen, linebackers and secondary, giving an excellent representation of Concordia football excelling in the classroom across the roster.

The 2022 Academic All-District® Football Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include student-athletes who have reached at least sophomore academic and athletic standing at his institution, maintain a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average, and at least in his second academic year at the institution (first year transfers are not eligible) while being competing members of the varsity travel squad.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
 

#72 Jac Carver (RT, 6-6, 300, So., Delano, Minn. / Wayzata HS)
  • 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team
  • Will be NSIC All-Academic Team selection in 2022
  • Played in 10 games including seven starts at right tackle
  • Helped offensive line produce 30th ranking in DII in fewest TFLs (5.0) and 37th in fewest sacks allowed (1.45) per game
  • Had three games with 90-plus percent grades (91 at NSU, 91 vs UMary, 90 at BSU)
  • Has played in 15 career games including 10 starts as a Golden Bear


#26 Davaris Cheeks (S, 6-2, 185, So., Aurora, Ill. / West Aurora HS)
  • 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team
  • Will be NSIC All-Academic Team selection in 2022
  • One of two NCAA Division II student-athletes (all sports) elected to NCAA President's Council with full voting rights
  • NCAA Division II National SAAC Representative for the NSIC
  • 2022-23 CSP Student Body President
  • 2021-22 CSP SAAC President
  • Has been a team captain for the Golden Bears
  • Has persisted through injuries to compete in eight games with 12 tackles and a fumble recovery
  • In two seasons on the field at CSP, has battled through injury to play in 15 games with 29 tackles, two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup


#5 Conner Cordts (QB, 6-2, 195, So., Peoria, Ariz. / Cactus HS)
  • 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team
  • Will be NSIC All-Academic Team in 2022
  • Ranks 50th in DII (5th NSIC) with 2,108 passing yards
  • Ranks 58th in DII (4th NSIC) with 212.9 yards of total offense per game
  • Had three 300-plus yard total offense performances
  • First career 300-plus yard passing performance in week three against Sioux Falls (306 yards, 3 TDs, 8-59 rushing)
  • Had 310 passing yards, 2 TDs, 8-34 rushing with a TD at Northern State
  • Had 260 passing yards, 1 TD, 13-50 rushing with a TD at MSU Moorhead
  • Second year starter with 17 career starts, 2,965 passing yards, 18-10 TD-INT ratio, 318 rushing yards and 3 rushing TDs


#32 Parker Dahlman (P, 6-6, 230, So., Blaine, Minn. / Blaine HS)
  • 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team
  • Will be NSIC All-Academic Team in 2022
  • Helped team produced the 26th-ranked net punt average in the nation at 36.94 yards, 2nd in the NSIC
  • Ranked 42nd in the country and 4th NSIC in punting average (39.4)
  • Helped the punt team hold opponents to a season-long 2.5 punt return average, ranking 11th in the country & 1st NSIC
  • Had 13 punts inside the 20, 11 fair catches and seven 50-plus yard punts on the season
  • Currently holds CSP's career record punt average at 39.84 in two years as the team's punter


#4 Brayden Hilgemann (LB, 6-3, 225, So., Marshall, Minn. / Marshall HS)
  • 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team
  • Will be NSIC All-Academic Team in 2022
  • Opened 2022 as team's starting MLB before season-ending injury in week six at BSU
  • Ranked 2nd on team with 37 tackles at time of injury
  • Had at least four tackles in all six games with three games of 7-plus tackles
  • Opened season with eight tackles, one for loss and a sack in first career start against #25 Augustana
  • Recorded seven tackles and secured a fourth quarter interception in the red zone in second start at SMSU
  • Has played in 17 career games with 53 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks and an INT


#41 El-Osiris Jeudy (LB, 6-0, 225, So., Miami, Fla. / Somerset Academy)
  • 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team
  • Will be NSIC All-Academic Team in 2022
  • Has played in 20 career games in two seasons at CSP, moving into starting LB role midway through sophomore year
  • Ranked 10th on the team with 33 total tackles including five games with 3-plus tackles
  • Had a high of eight tackles at Wayne State
  • Secured six tackles against Sioux Falls
  • Has compiled 36 career tackles, 2.5 TFLs, a forced fumble and a pass breakup in 20 career games


#71 Sam Marshalek (C, 6-3, 300, Jr., De Pere, Wis. / West De Pere HS)
  • 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team
  • Will be three-time NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence in 2022
  • Two-year starting center and multiple week team captain
  • Has played in 32 career games with 24 starts as a Golden Bear
  • Held a season grade of 90 percent along the offensive line
  • Had a season-high 97 percent game grade at Bemidji State
  • Graded 90-plus percent in eight of 11 games including highlights against Augustana (94), Minnesota Duluth (93), UMary (93) and Wayne State (92)
  • Helped offensive line produce 30th ranking in DII in fewest TFLs (5.0) and 37th in fewest sacks allowed (1.45) per game


#12 Jack Munsterteiger (WR, 5-10, 180, So., Buffalo, Minn. / Buffalo HS)
  • 2022 CSC Academic All-District Team
  • Will be NSIC All-Academic Team in 2022
  • Ranked 2nd in a diverse passing offense with 26 receptions
  • Had at least three catches in five games and at least a catch in all 11 games
  • Had highs of five catches for 48 yards against Minnesota State with a long of 32 against UMD
  • Has played in 15 career games with 32 catches for 317 yards
