ST. PAUL, Minn. – This Friday the Golden Bear swim team will compete in their ninth event this season which is their last event before the NSIC Championships. The team will be in Aberdeen, South Dakota to compete in the Northern State University Triangular hosted at the Aberdeen YMCA.

The Triangular will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday January 28 and will also featured Southwest Minnesota State.

The Bears recently competed in the MSU Moorhead Invite two weekends ago where the team placed fifth of six places. Four competing Bears had a successful meet where there were multiple places in the top three. Farida Maher earned four first place finishes and one runner-up, while Laura Vekony placed first in the 200-yard butterfly, and Charly Horn took home two second place finishes, and finally Stephanie De Leon placed third in the 200-yard butterfly behind her teammate Vekony.

Head Coach Rachel Busch says, "Friday we swim our last regular-season meet and will use this meet as a final tune-up for the NSIC Conference Championships.  Having a second meet this January is helpful to make sure we are in race-mode coming off intense training over winter break."
