WSU SERIES HISTORY
Concordia enters the week with a 36-42 record all-time against the Warriors, including an even 33-33 record in NSIC play. While Winona State dominated the early years of the series with 10 straight wins from 1999-02, the Golden Bears have found much more success in recent years. In the last 14 meetings since 2016, CSP has claimed nine wins, including six in a row to start the stretch. Concordia holds an 11-13 marks in 24 games in St. Paul.

LAST MEETING WITH THE WARRIORS
Back on May 1, 2019, the Golden Bears saw their postseason hopes come to a close as they dropped two to Winona State on the day. WSU took game one 4-0 and game two 9-1.

With the Golden Bears needing to win at least four of their final five games of the regular season to give themselves a chance to reach the NSIC Tournament, CSP saw their impressive streak of six consecutive trips to the NSIC Tournament snapped by the Warriors. Concordia had finished seventh or above in the challenging Northern Sun every season since 2013 heading into the year.

Scoring proved to be hard to come by in the first game of the day as both teams were held scoreless over the first four and a half innings. The Warriors finally broke the deadlock with a pair of runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth to cruise to a 4-0 victory.

WSU starter Aaron Mutter (5-2) held the Golden Bears to two hits and a pair of walks while striking out 10 in the complete game shutout. Patrick Bordewick reached twice with a single in the first and a walk in the fourth while Ben Suits added a double and Roch Whittaker added a walk.

Louie Varland (4-5) added a complete game on the other side as he worked 6.0 innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while walking one and striking out seven in the loss.

USF SERIES HISTORY
The Golden Bears have gone 18-9 in 27 previous meetings dating back to 2013 with the Cougars. CSP's best stretch came from 2014-16 as they won eight straight in the series, but the Cougars have evened things out a bit since then with Concordia holding a slim 7-6 edge in the past 13 meetings. In 16 meetings in St. Paul, the Golden Bears hold a record of 11-5.

LAST MEETING WITH THE COUGARS
In the final series of the season in 2019, the Golden Bears and Sioux Falls split a four game series in Sioux Falls.

On the final day of the regular season, CSP closed out the 2019 season with a win as they bounced back from a 5-3 loss in game one to take game two 4-3.

Carter Schmidt picked up three hits on the day to finish his career with 183 over four seasons while Isaac Hormann grabbed his 170th career hit. Schmidt finishes sixth in the CSP DII era in hits while Hormann finished ninth. Senior pitcher Keanu Mendez added his 33rd career appearance on the mound and 26th career start as he struck out eight to bring his total to 136 as a Golden Bear.

Game two was a back-and-forth contest as the Cougars led early before the Golden Bears jumped out front 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 en route to claiming the win.

The Golden Bears took advantage of their opportunities as they turned seven hits into four runs in the game. Carter Schmidt closed out his career on a high note as he went 2-4 with a double and a run batted in while fellow senior Steven Nessler added two hits as well. Seniors Ben Suits and Drew Sannes each contributed doubles while Jeffrey Kressler, singled, scored a run and drove in another.

Keanu Mendez worked deep into the contest as he lasted 7.2 innings in a no-decision. The senior right-hander allowed just three runs on six hits while striking out eight. Shane Benson (3-1) picked up where he left off by retiring four Cougars in a row for the win.
