Golden Bears drop Sunday road game at Northern Michigan

CSP opens six-game road swing with losses at NMU

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Concordia-St. Paul (3-3, 2-2 GLIAC) dropped a Sunday afternoon lacrosse contest 13-10 at Northern Michigan (4-3, 2-0 GLIAC) at the Superior Dome.

The Golden Bears continue their six-game road tour through the Midwest next Thursday and Saturday at #9 Grand Valley State in Allendale, Michigan.

Concordia was led by Molly Moynihan with a career-high six points and matched her career-high in assists for the second straight game with three. She's now tied for the team lead with 17 points, matching Lex Seifert.

Sarah Pierson continued to dominate the middle with 14 draw controls, topping her own school record for the second straight game while scoring three goals in the loss.

Freshman goalie Maddy Huebner continues to perform well in the crease, making 14 saves for the second straight game. In her first four games, she's ahead of the school record pace for goals against average at 9.85 and save percentage at .512.

Concordia held an early 3-2 lead when M.Moynihan scored on a free position shot in the 14th minute, but the Wildcats used a pair of 3-goal runs as part of a 6-1 stretch to close out the half for an 8-4 advantage.

From there, CSP narrowed the gap to three twice, first on Julia Monson's goal from a Katie Moynihan pass at 8:25 to make it 10-7, and again on Pierson's second-straight goal and third overall with just over four minutes to play. Pierson's final goal was the game's last, as the Golden Bears were unable to chip away further at NMU's lead.

Emily Renfrew and Madeline Bittell each had five points with Renfrew producing three goals and Bittell four assists. Jessica Daniels had a team-high four goals for NMU. Cam Stilson earned the win in net, making 12 saves and allowing 12 goals.
