CHICAGO – Concordia-St. Paul freshman kicker
Sam Henson earned Fred Mitchell Award monthly watch list honors for each of the final two months of the season, as announced by the award committee in November.
Henson was previously selected to the September Watch List, as well.
While the September Watch List included 10 kickers nationwide across the NCAA FCS, DII, DIII, NAIA and NJCAA levels of small college football, the list swelled to 27 in October and 26 in November before the finalists of the top-10 were announced on December 3.
Henson was among nine Division II kickers on the October list and eight Division II kickers on the November list. Of the DII kickers, three advanced to the Top-10 from California (Pa.), Indiana (Pa.) and Wingate (N.C.). He was among seven freshmen on the October list and six on the November list. The only two freshman finalists to advance were from the Division II ranks, as well.
The Fred Mitchell Award is presented annually to the top placekickers for their excellence on the football field and for continued community service.
