BISMARCK, N.D.- The Concordia-St. Paul women's soccer team fell to UMary on Friday night, 3-1. The loss moves the Golden Bears to 7-6-1 (6-4-1 NSIC).
In the 9th minute, junior midfielder/ forward Jena Berkland scored the only goal for the Golden Bears. The goal is Berkland's fourth of the season, tying with teammates Abby Kloiber and Corynn Grabau, and puts Berkland on the NSIC goal leaderboard.
Grabau's assist on the goal is her third of the season and ties her for second in points for the CSP squad with Sophie Pawlyshyn with 11 and trailing Katie Anderson at 12.
The Golden Bears out shot their opponents 9-7 but each team placed three shots on net.
Berkland, Anderson, and defender Ciara Bailey all had one shot on net on Friday, the best for the Bears on the road. Anderson led with three shots, tying her for second in the NSIC with 35 on the season, and Berkland followed with two.
On the Golden Bear defense, goalkeeper Jessi Jordan, as well as Bailey, Tori Miller, and Cayla Renwick, all played a full 90 minutes. Renwick now leads the Bears with 1212 minutes played in the 2021 season, with Miller (1191) and Jordan (1083) close behind.
The Golden Bears will next travel to Minot, N.D. to face the Minot State Beavers on Sunday, Oct. 24 at noon.
