WACO, Texas - Concordia-St. Paul junior defensive Chris Garrett becomes the player in program history to become a two-time AFCA All-America selection, being named to the second team by the American Football Coaches Association.

Garrett, one of just four players on this year's AFCA All-America Teams to repeat with the honor, was a first team selection in 2018 as a sophomore. He joins Zach Moore (2012) and Tom Obarski (2014) as CSP football's AFCA All-America selections. He is the first to garner AFCA All-America second team honors in program history, as well.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since a single 11-player squad in 1945, evolving to today's format that includes a separate team for NCAA Division II football starting in 1972 with a second DII team added in recent years in 2016.

The AFCA's Division II All-America selection committee is made up of three head coaches from each of the AFCA's seven districts, one of whom serves as a district chairman, along with another head coach who serves as the chairman of the selection committee. The coaches in each district are responsible for ranking the top players in their respective districts prior to a conference call between the district chairmen and the committee chairman on which the teams are chosen.

Garrett is one of 10 juniors and one of six players from the Northern Sun (NSIC) (four first team and two second team).
