Kara Lindberg sets school record to pace Bears at NSIC Championships

The sophomore placed 27th to lead CSP to a 10th place team finish

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Led by sophomore Kara Lindberg's school record race, the Concordia-St. Paul women's cross country team registered its second-straight 10th place finish at the 15-team NSIC Championships at Lee Park Golf Course hosted by Northern State University on Saturday.

While the team produced a second-straight 10th place finish, it also showed a 31 point improvement over last year's conference total.

The Golden Bears will turn their sights to NCAA Central Region Championship competition in two weeks on Saturday, November 17 at Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course hosted by Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

Lindberg's school record time of 22:29.3 came in 28.4 seconds faster than Amanda Mueller's 2005 NSIC Championship run and is 28.7 seconds faster than her previous PR. She improved 15 spots on the individual standings to a 27th place finish.

Overall, the team had eight new PRs and a season best which helped establish a new program record top-5 average time of 23:59.36, breaking the 2007 NCAA regional mark by 20 seconds.

WOMEN'S NOTES
Kara Lindberg – 27th place – 22:29.3 – Kara establishes a new school record breaking by the 28.4 seconds the previous record set by Amanda Mueller at the 2005 NSIC Championships.  Kara set a new personal Best Time improving by 28.7 seconds.  Kara sets a new CSP course record for the Lee Park Golf Course breaking the previous record 59.7 seconds.  Kara improved by 15 places on her 2017 NSIC Championship performance.

Ruth Lindberg – 65th place – 24:00.8 – Ruth establishes a new Personal Best Time improving by 32.4 seconds improving on her time from 2016 NCAA DII Central Region Championships.    Ruth runs the 3rd fastest CSP time at the Lee Park GC.  Ruth improved by 40 seconds and 23 places from her 2017 NSIC Championship performance.

Jackie Lindfors – 67th place – 24:06.0 – Jackie sets a new Season Best Time improving by 49.5 seconds on her time from two weeks ago at the Bob Waxlax Invitational.  Jackie runs the 4th fastest CSP race at the Lee Park GC.    Jackie improved by 5 places from her 2017 NSIC Championship performance.

Lucia Mesfin – 89th place – 24:38.2 – Lucia establishes a new Personal Best Time improving by 1 minute 40.5 seconds on her time from the Roy Griak Invitational.  Lucia runs the 5th fastest CSP race at the Lee Park GC.

Courtney Ramsay – 92nd place – 24:42.5 – Courtney establishes a new Personal Best Time improving by 28.6 seconds on her time from the 2017 NCAA DII Central Region Championships.  Courtney runs the 7th fastest CSP race at the Lee Park GC.  Courtney improved by 28.6 seconds and 11 places from her 2017 NSIC Championship performance.  Courtney has improved her time and place at all 4 NSIC Championships she has competed.

Tasha Bennett – 102nd place – 25:14.5 – Tasha establishes a new Personal Best Time improving by 2.4 seconds on her time from the 2016 NCAA DII Central Region Championships.  Tasha runs the 10th fastest CSP race at the Lee Park GC.  Tasha improved by 51.1 seconds and 17 places from her 2017 NSIC Championship performance.

Lydia Carr – 107th place – 25:33.40 – Lydia improved by 1 minute 19.7 seconds and 16 places from her 2017 NSIC Championship performance.

Sam Cole – 129th place – 26:58.4 – Sam establishes a new Personal Best Time improving by 40.3 seconds on her time from the Roy Griak Invitational

Delaney Butler – 134th place – 27:44.0 – Delaney establishes a new Personal Best Time improving by 28.5 seconds on her time from the Roy Griak Invitational.

Holly Werning – 137th place – 28:39.6 – Holly establishes a new Personal Best Time improving by 33.5 seconds on her time two weeks ago at the Bob Waxlax Invite.
