ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Concordia-St. Paul soccer team (0-1) dropped a very evenly matched game in double overtime at Lindenwood (1-0), falling to the Lions 2-1 Friday afternoon in the non-conference matchup.
With the scored tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the Golden Bears and Lions headed to overtime. Neither team could find the winning goal in the first 10 minutes of extra time forcing a second overtime. It was at the 106th minute that Becky Roberts shot far post, finding the back of the net and giving Lindenwood the win.
"Our players battled hard and perhaps we should have wrapped it up in the second half, but we will still take some positives from this game." Head coach

Emily Nelson had pair of impressive point blank saves early in the second half, but the Lions were able to tie it up at the 66:34 mark off a laser shot from Taylor Heinemeier at the top of the 18 yard box.
The Golden Bears offense got off to a slow start taking just over 23 minutes to attempt their first shot of the game. But while the offense struggled to get going, the CSP defense played well in the first half only allowing two shots on goal.
However in the second half, Lindenwood would pick up the intensity on offense as they outshot Concordia 7-3 limiting the Golden Bear's opportunities to go on the offensive and find a second goal.

Jade Weller each notched a shot on goal for Concordia, while Landry and Lindsay finished with a total of three shots a piece.
Payton Williams paced the Lions with a game-high three shots on goal while Becky Roberts added two shots on goal for Lindenwood.
Nelson took the loss in net for the Golden Bears as she made six saves on the Lions eight shots on goal.
The Golden Bears managed to get 11 shots on the day but only four were on goal compared to Lindenwood who managed to get eight of their 13 total shots on goal. Concordia also committed 14 fouls on the afternoon where the Lions only committed six fouls.
This game marked the first ever matchup between the two schools.
CSP is back in action tomorrow as they travel down to St. Louis to take on Maryville (Mo.) at 1 p.m.
