Andy Fagely (Mahtomedi, Minn.0, the Concordia baseball team got their 4-game weekend series off to a good start with a 5-1 win and 11-4 win at U-Mary on Saturday. Concordia has now won three straight overall and 11-straight head-to-head against U-Mary. Concordia (11-7 overall) improves to 3-3 in NSIC play, while U-Mary (2-18 overall) falls to 1-5 in league games. BOX SCORES: Game 1 | Game 2
Game 1: Concordia 5, U-Mary 1
The Golden Bears trailed 1-0 after three innings, stranding three runners on base in the early going. The Marauders struck first in the bottom of the second on a leadoff homer by clean-up hitter James Carroll, his second of the year.

Doug Stearns delivered an RBI single to centerfield scoring
Bryan Lippincott. He was followed by a
Troy DuBay single and an
Elliot Powell sacrifice but Concordia couldn't push more runs across, leaving them on second and third. DuBay would go 3-for-4 in the game.
With the score tied entering the bottom of the fourth, U-Mary rallied and put runners on second and third with one out before Lemke punched out Tyler Steffan and forced a induced a grounder to end the inning.
Concordia would score four times in the fifth inning, courtesy of a two-run single by senior
Logan Bouts, plating
Paul Giel and
Greg Larpenter, and Stearns followed with another RBI single to pad the lead. Stearns went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI while Giel had a 2-for-3 performance.
Lemke would settle in from there, working a 1-2-3 fifth and working around a leadoff walk in the sixth with a strikeout-throw out double play.
In the seventh, Lemke allowed a leadoff single and a walk, giving way to Bouts to shut the door.
Bouts, making his first appearance of the year, struck out the first two batters he faced, getting three outs in a row to end the game. Bouts earned his first save of the year, with the tying run on deck when he entered. He also went 3-for-4 with two RBI and is hitting .456 and has reached base safely in 16 straight games.
Lemke improved to 2-2, striking out eight batters over 6.0-plus innings. He allowed one earned run on five hits and three walks, lowering his season ERA to 2.89 in 28.0 innings.
Game 2: CU 11, U-Mary 4
The Golden Bears were efficient offensively in game two, scoring two runs in each of the first two innings and another in the third to build a 5-0 lead in the longer 9-inning contest.
Junior right hander
Andy Fagely used it to his advantage, too, holding U-Mary scoreless through four innings and pitching 7-strong innings, striking out eight with no walks for the victory, improving to 3-2 on the year.
By the time U-Mary finally got to Fagely, Concordia had opened up a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth, and Concordia responded to the Marauder run by scoring four more times in the top of the sixth inning for a commanding 10-1 lead.
Junior left hander
Griff Kilber closed the door in the final two innings, allowing an unearned run while striking out three.
DuBay had back-to-back 3-hit games, going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs and RBI along with a double. Freshman
Kyle Dalton set the tone at the top of the order with a 3-for-5 game with a pair of runs.
The second and third hitters,
Greg Larpenter and
Bryan Lippincott, each hit doubles. Larpenter doubled in both games and has eight on the year while Lippincott hit his 10th of the season.
