The golden bear offense burst out in a big way, amassing 592 yards of total offense en route to a 41-14 thrashing at upper iowa university (3-5, 3-3 nsic) on saturday afternoon at eischeid stadium in fayette, iowa. The golden bears improve to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the northern sun with the victory.
cu piled up season highs in both rushing with 233 yards and passing with 359 yards and used a 20 point second quarter to take a dominating lead into the second half. The defense contributed by shutting the peacocks out for the first three quarters as concordia mounted an insurmountable 41-0 lead early in the final quarter.
the offense averaged an impressive 8.3 yards per play which included 12.0 yards per pass attempt and 5.7 yards per rush.

kole goodchild (left)
who turned in a second straight dominant performance under center. Goodchild completed 17-27 for 295 yards and three td passes while rushing for 83 yards on 12 attempts. Senior quarterback
jay schauder also completed 2-2 for 64 yards including a 43 yard touchdown strike to senior receiver
jason simmons.
junior runningback
eric clinton (right) led the ground game, which improved the team to 3-0 when rushing for at least 185 yards. Clinton carried 11 times for 84 yards and had a six yard rushing td and also had a pair receptions for 82 yards including a 78 yard td catch. He compiled 166 yards of total offense in the game and had a pair of scores. Senior runningback
aaron cawthorn contributed 11 rushes for 61 yards for the ground game.
sophomore receiver
tyrone ruffin (left) was the target of choice, catching five passes for 110 yards and a 27 yard td and a long of 54. Simmons finished with three receptions for 65 yards and the 43 yard td while clinton's receiving stats were two catches for 82 yards and a td. Senior receiver
cecil elekwachi caught the other td pass for the bears and finished with two catches for 29 yards.
the concordia passing game once again spread the ball around with nine players recording receptions, six of them getting at least 20 yards.
the cu defense was led by
jordan frain (left) who had a game-high 13 tackles, 1.5 for loss and an interception that he returned for 17 yards. The bear defense created six turnovers in the game as they recovered five fumbles.
on special teams, senior kicker/punter
brody johnson (right) had four punts, averaging 39.8 yards per punt but more importantly the kick coverage held uiu to just 2.8 yards per return as b.johnson netted 37.0 per attempt with three of his four kicks ending up inside the 20. He also drilled a pair of second quarter field goals, one from 23 yards and the other from 28 yards with one second in the half. He finished with 11 points.
the win for concordia snaps a three game losing sreak. The bears look to carry that momentum next week when they travel to nebraska to take on wayne state on oct. 28 at 1:00.
