Recruiting Coordinator for Concordia Football

McHugh joined the Concordia coaching staff in January of 2012 and serves as the team's recruiting coordinator. After working with running back and tight ends for his first season with the program, he was appointed to coach the offensive line in 2013.
Prior to Concordia, McHugh had coached five seasons at the collegiate level including a three year run at Minnesota Duluth that featured two NCAA Championships and a National Quarterfinal finish.
Most recently, McHugh spent the 2011 football season at Carleton College in the MIAC as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator for the Knights.
Before his Carleton gig, McHugh was at the University of Minnesota Duluth for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons were he earned a Master's in Education from UMD. Aside from the three deep NCAA Playoff runs that culminated in two titles in three years, McHugh coached the NSIC Offensive Player of the Year twice and a Harlon Hill national finalist.
With McHugh coaching the UMD running backs and tight ends for three seasons, the Bulldogs produced rushing offenses ranked in the top-five in the country and featured the nation's third leading individual rusher.
Before joining the staff at UMD, he was an assistant coach at Eureka College (Ill.) for the 2007 season where he earned a promotion to offensive coordinator and also served as the team's strength & conditioning coach.
He played collegiately at Loras College (Iowa), an offensive lineman from 2003-06 before joining the coaching staff for the spring of 2007. He graduated with honors that May with a degree in exercise science and a coaching minor.
Throughout his five years of college football coaching, McHugh has accumulated a wide range of experience, including:Â strength & conditioning coach, run game coordinator, offensive coordinator, facilitated team and individual camps, NFL pro liaison, academic coordinator, game film, practice plans, equipment manager and student-athlete recruitment in multiple states throughout the Midwest.
He is an active member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Minnesota State High School Coaches Association.
McHugh is a native of Chicago where he was a two-year offensive lineman and senior captain at Loyola Academy.
