Dalton Thomas joined the Concordia-St. Paul football coaching staff prior to the spring 2025 season as the special teams coordinator while working with the defensive line position group.
Thomas spent the 2024 season as the assistant defensive line coach at South Dakota State University, helping the Jackrabbits to an MVFC conference championship while SDSU topped the leaderboard in scoring defense, ranked fifth in run defense and 10th in red zone defense.Â
Prior to his position at SDSU, Thomas was a two-year member of the coaching staff at Northwest Missouri State University, serving as a graduate assistant with the defensive backs (2022) and defensive line (2023). He helped the Bearcat defense finish third in the nation in run defense, eighth in total sacks and the Bearcats reached the second round of the 2022 NCAA playoffs.Â
His coaching career began at his alma mater at the University of Northern Iowa as a student assistant and recruiting coordinator with position coaching duties with the defensive backs. As a member of the Panthers' staff from 2018-22, Thomas helped the program to four-straight playoff appearances including an appearance in the national quarterfinals while ranking top-10 in scoring defense four-straight seasons.Â
He earned his degree from UNI in 2022 in exercise science and secured his master's degree in applied health and science from NWMSU in 2024.Â
