Winning two national championships and three conference titles in her four years at Concordia, Heather (Schiller) Emond was a consistent force as one of the top middle blockers in program history. 

Though she appeared in just two matches as a freshman, Emond found success early in her career as the Golden Bears claimed the NCAA National Championship in 2012. 

Stepping into a prominent role in the middle for Concordia as a sophomore, Emond was a key piece in Concordia's 2013 title run that culminated in the program’s seventh consecutive NCAA Division II Championship. In that season, Emond tallied 324 kills (2.59 per set) on a .361 hitting percentage and added 118 total blocks (0.94 per set). For her efforts, she was named to the All-NSIC First Team, AVCA All-Region First Team, and AVCA All-America Second Team. 

In 2014, Emond led the NSIC and ranked 11th in the nation with an average of 1.24 blocks per set. She added 239 kills (2.01 per set) on offense, securing All-NSIC Second Team honors. 

As a senior in 2015, Emond had 236 kills (1.90 per set) and a career-high 151 total blocks (1.22 per set), earning another All-NSIC First Team selection and helping the Golden Bears capture both the NSIC regular season and tournament titles. 

For her career, Emond still ranks in the top 10 in school history in several categories, including total blocks, blocks per set, solo blocks, block assists, and hitting percentage. In the four years Emond was at Concordia, the Golden Bears posted an overall record of 124-18, including a mark of 73-7 in conference play. 

Emond earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Concordia in 2016 and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Sonder Behavioral Health and Wellness. In that role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the clinic, ensuring efficient workflows, high-quality patient care, and strong financial performance. She is also the founder and owner of Wild Things Indoor Playground, where she leads all aspects of business operations, including strategic planning, financial management, marketing, and customer experience. 

Emond is married to former CSP golfer Garrett Emond, B.A. '16. The pair reside in Elko New Market, Minnesota, with their two children.

A four-time All-NSIC performer and one-time NSIC champion, Colin Goligoski is one of the most accomplished multi-athletes in the history of Golden Bear track & field. 

Goligoski first competed for Concordia in the spring of 2011, competing in various jumping and sprinting events. He first competed in the heptathlon at the 2012 NSIC Indoor Championships, finishing in 12th place. He continued to hone his craft throughout the following outdoor season, vaulting all the way up to sixth place in the decathlon at the 2012 NSIC Outdoor Championships. 

At the 2014 NSIC Indoor Championships, Goligoski secured the first All-NSIC selection of his career when he finished in second place in the heptathlon. Later that year, he followed it up with yet another All-NSIC nod and second-place finish in the decathlon at the NSIC Outdoor Championships. In his senior season in 2015, Goligoski became CSP's second-ever conference heptathlon champion, winning the event with a then-school-record 5,151 points at the NSIC Indoor Championships. He capped off his career with a fourth All-NSIC honor, finishing in third place in the decathlon at the 2015 NSIC Outdoor Championships.

Since earning his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Concordia in 2015, Goligoski has built a strong foundation at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and product marketing. Beginning in the medical device industry, he developed experience supporting complex healthcare technologies across a variety of clinical markets. He later transitioned into healthcare SaaS and fintech, where he has led go-to-market strategy, product launches, and sales enablement efforts for a broad portfolio of revenue cycle management and analytics solutions. Known for his collaborative mindset and ability to translate complex products into compelling stories, he has become a trusted cross-functional partner focused on driving meaningful business and customer outcomes.

Outside of his professional career, Goligoski has remained deeply connected to athletics and mentorship. Following his collegiate track & field career, he spent a decade coaching at the collegiate level from 2015–2025, including time at Concordia University, St. Paul (CSP). During that time, he helped develop multiple All-Americans and national champions while mentoring student-athletes both on and off the track. His passion for coaching reflects his commitment to leadership, personal growth, and helping others reach their potential.

In 2021, Goligoski married his wife, Taylor, and in 2023, they welcomed their daughter, Eloise. Family remains at the center of his life and motivation. He also continues to stay active in the running and fitness community, bringing the same discipline, consistency, and competitive spirit from athletics into both his personal and professional pursuits.

A two-year starting quarterback after transferring to Concordia in 2005, Kole Goodchild is one of the most accomplished signal callers in the history of Golden Bear football. 

Transferring to CSP from Iowa Central Community College in 2005, the West Bend, Iowa native redshirted his first season at Concordia before taking the reins in 2006 when he became the program’s starting quarterback for the next two seasons. 

In the 2006 season, Goodchild made an immediate splash, throwing for 2,012 yards and 16 passing touchdowns against just 10 interceptions, while rushing for 267 yards and adding two touchdowns on the ground.

Goodchild took on even more responsibility in the Golden Bear offense in his senior season in 2007, completing 260 passes for a school-record 3,027 yards and 18 touchdowns and adding 137 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He had the top performance of his career on October 12, 2007 in a win over MSU Moorhead, when he completed 31 of his 46 passes for 433 passing yards and five touchdowns, earning National Offensive Player of the Week honors. 

After earning a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Accounting and finance from Concordia in 2008, Goodchild went on to obtain his CPA. He has built a career leading finance and sales operations within the medical device industry, and currently serves as the Vice President of Finance at Sight Sciences, following leadership roles at Abbott and St. Jude Medical, where he has helped scale teams and drive strategic growth.

Goodchild and his wife, Tiffany, live in Stillwater, Minnesota, with their children, Maddie, Gabby, and Sam, and honor the memory of their son, Karter, who passed away in 2025. Goodchild also serves as a board member for the Kourageous Karter Foundation, a nonprofit founded by his wife, Tiffany, to support medically complex children and the people who love them.

The all-time leader in tackles for the Golden Bear football team, Jordan Halverson is one of the most accomplished linebackers in program history. 

After redshirting in the 2010 season, Halverson stepped into a prominent role in the CSP defense in 2011, appearing in 11 games and making five starts. In that season, he finished third on the team and 28th in the NSIC with 73 total tackles. 

Halverson made a massive leap in 2012, starting all 11 games for the Golden Bears and averaging a team-leading 9.55 tackles per game, good for seventh in the NSIC and fifth among linebackers in the conference. He was named BSN Division II Player of the Week on September 8 for his 14-tackle performance and blocked kick against Minnesota Crookston. At season’s end, he earned All-NSIC South Division Second Team honors for the first time in his career. 

Following an injury-shortened 2013 season, Halverson returned better than ever in 2014, setting a new Division II-era record with 108 tackles, fourth most in the NSIC. In an early October game against Wayne State, he set a career high with 16 total tackles. He also added 2.5 sacks and an interception returned for a touchdown during the season, earning All-NSIC Second Team honors once again for his efforts. 

Halverson wrapped up his career with a strong senior campaign in 2015 as he led the team with 89 total tackles. He also tallied 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, 1 forced fumble, and one interception.   

Halverson earned all three of his degrees from Concordia, receiving his bachelor of arts in 2015, master of arts in 2017, and educational specialist degree in 2023. His career in education began at Best Academy, where he served as a Physical and Health Education teacher, building strong relationships with students and helping foster a positive school culture.

He later joined Wayzata High School, where he spent six years as a Physical and Health Education teacher while also serving as the Defensive Coordinator for the football program. During his tenure, Halverson helped lead the Trojans to the 2019 Class 6A State Football Championship. In addition to football, he also coached 10th-grade basketball, continuing his passion for mentoring students both in and out of the classroom.

Halverson transitioned into school administration at Eden Prairie High School as an Administrative Dean before becoming Assistant Principal at West Middle School, where he served for two years. He currently serves as the proud Principal of Fridley Middle School, returning to lead in the same district that helped shape his own educational journey.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Jordan is most proud of his family. He and his wife, Kaliah, have been married for five years and are the proud parents of two children, Ziyah and Julian.

Zach Moore made history multiple times in his five years at Concordia with his highest-profile achievement on May 10, 2014, when he was selected in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, signing his first professional contract just a few days later. He would start a game as a rookie on Sunday Night Football and was a member of the Super Bowl XLIX Champion Patriots squad that year.

Moore was also a two-time All-American and the first-ever Concordia football player to be named to the AFCA All-America First Team as selected by the Division II football coaches association. He set the program record for career sacks (33.0, now 3rd at CSP), which was ranked ninth in Division II football history when his CSP career came to a close (now 34th). He dominated the Northern Sun throughout his career, earning All-NSIC First Team honors three times while leading the league in sacks twice. His 14 sacks as a junior in 2012 are the second most in a season in school history. That season, he ranked fifth in the country with 1.27 sacks per game and 11th nationally with 1.91 tackles for loss per game.

Although he was recruited by major Division I programs out of Simeon Academy in Chicago and put himself on the national scene with a breakout sophomore season that helped the program reach the Mineral Water Bowl, it was his junior season that had drawn the attention of every NFL organization.

Northern Sun coaches agreed by naming him the NSIC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and changing their offensive schemes to keep him from blowing up their backfields at the expense of offensive production. He was also a preseason All-American, ranked the #5 Division II football prospect by D2Football.com and named to the Senior Bowl watch list.

Despite lower sack totals as a senior (7.0), the Concordia defense took a major step forward with Moore serving as the leader in his role as two-time captain. 

In his four seasons on the field, Moore compiled 130 tackles, 45.0 tackles for loss, 33.0 sacks (31 solo), forced six fumbles, had three blocked kicks and four passes defended along with one career interception.

While he was drafted by the Patriots on May 10, Moore was recognized the previous day when he walked with a degree in criminal justice on May 9, 2014. He played in 26 career NFL games for four different franchises, starting two career games. In his final season with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018, he played in all 16 games, earning his second career start and securing a career-high 3.5 sacks during the season. He also saw action for the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys and was a member of the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers organizations.

After retiring from professional football, Moore has become a certified men’s health and fitness coach through the International Sports Science Association (ISSA). He has two daughters and is a part-time youth football coach (11-13U). He has also worked in the community on important issues, including a Dancing with the Stars competition to raise awareness for human trafficking, and has appeared in a New York stage play about mental health for athletes after retirement.

A four-year contributor and two-time All-NSIC selection for the CSP men’s basketball team, Cole Olstad wrapped up his career as the program’s all-time leader in both games and minutes played as a Golden Bear. 

Olstad was an immediate impact player for the Golden Bears as a freshman in the 2011-12 season, appearing in all 26 games and making 14 starts. In that season, he averaged 6.7 points, 1.5 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game. He made the jump to everyday starter as a sophomore, scoring 15.1 points and adding two assists and five rebounds per game in 26 contests. In that season, Olstad managed a career-best .411 three point percentage. 

Following an injury-shortened 2013-14 campaign, Olstad bounced back in his junior year with an All-NSIC Second Team nod after averaging 13.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game across 30 contests. As a senior, Olstad repeated as an All-NSIC Second Team pick after averaging 15.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 29 games played. 

Olstad received his bachelor of business administration degree from Concordia in 2015, double-majoring in accounting and finance. He currently serves as the Manager of Project Controls for the nuclear energy team at Xcel Energy, having progressed from a Financial Consultant role over the past three years. Before that, Cole was a Senior Financial Analyst at Marvin Windows and Doors for two years and spent his first five years as an Auditor for RSM, the fifth largest public accounting firm in the country. In addition to his full-time job, Cole is also an active real estate investor, with experience in multifamily, commercial, and short-term rental properties.

Cole is part of a strong Olstad family legacy at CSP, as the fourth of four siblings—Candace, Kali, Clay, and Cole—to graduate and compete as student-athletes for the Golden Bears.

Influenced by a strong family foundation, Cole has carried those values forward and today is a proud uncle to nine nieces and nephews—Jalen, Willow, Millie, Dreyden, Kaylani, Zayden, Daxden, Presley, and Whitley.

Recently, Cole married Carlie Wagner, a standout athlete from the University of Minnesota, where Carlie ranks as the third leading scorer in program history. Together, they live in Rochester and enjoy life with their two dogs, a golden retriever named Bill and a goldendoodle named Paisley.

CJ Sanderson was a four-year force on the offensive line during Concordia’s strongest stretch of winning football in program history. 

With Sanderson paving the way for a powerful running game and protecting for a dynamic passing game, the Golden Bears carried a 33-13 record during his playing career from 2002 to 2005.

He was a key member of Concordia’s two NSIC championship seasons in 2003 and 2005, and helped CSP compile a 24-7 record during NSIC play, finishing no lower than fourth place during his career. 

Sanderson and his teammates also presided over a perfect home record during his career, going 19-0 at Griffin Stadium, marking the era as “The Griff Myth” from 2002-05.

He was a member of two of Concordia’s three Mineral Water Bowl squads including the first postseason game in school history in the 2003 season. 

The starting tackle was a 2005 All-NSIC First Team pick as a senior while making the Second Team as a junior in 2004. He was named to three different All-Region teams as a senior, earning Second Team honors by Daktronics (now D2CCA), Third Team honors by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette and Honorable Mention honors by D2ootball.com. 

He played for a top-15 offense in the country all four years, helping the team rank seventh in the country in total offense as a freshman (447.8 yards/game) in a 9-2 season, the eighth-ranked total offense as a sophomore in an 8-4 NSIC championship campaign, the ninth-ranked total offense (458.8 yards/game) as a junior in a 7-4 season and the 13th-ranked total offense (448.4 yards/game) as a senior in a 9-3 NSIC championship season.

Following his graduation from Concordia with a degree in kinesiology, Sanderson competed for three years in arena football before turning his career to non-residential treatment care, eventually advancing to his current position with the State of Minnesota as a behavioral modification assistant, helping individuals build life skills, accountability, and personal growth. 

Originally from Lakeland, Florida, Sanderson is involved in the Blaine community through coaching youth sports and mentorship through athletics. He and his wife, Stephanie (Westman) B.A. ‘07, M.A. ’11, a CSP women’s basketball player, have four children.

A two-time All-NSIC selection and a member of Concordia baseball’s only NCAA Regional Tournament appearance, Jake Waldman is one of the top sluggers in the program’s history. 

The Hopkins, Minnesota native joined the Golden Bear baseball team as a freshman in 2005 and made an immediate impact, appearing in 18 games and making 11 starts. In 41 at bats during his first year campaign, he hit .317 with 13 hits, including three doubles and a home run. As a sophomore, he made 28 starts for the Golden Bears, hitting .297 and slugging .549 with 18 runs batted in and 27 hits, including eight doubles and five home runs. 

The improvement continued in his third season, as Waldman started all 43 games for the Golden Bears and earned his first All-NSIC selection. He hit .335 with a .574 slugging percentage, knocking in 36 runs with 52 hits, 10 doubles, and nine home runs. As a senior, Waldman helped the Golden Bears reach new heights as they claimed the program’s second NSIC Tournament Championship and first-ever NCAA Central Region Tournament appearance. In that season, he hit a career-best .359 with 51 hits, 31 runs batted in, 10 doubles, and eight home runs to earn a second straight All-NSIC nod. 

Nearly two decades later, Waldman still ranks in the top 20 in program history in slugging percentage (.566, 19th), runs scored (116, 13th), doubles (31, 17th), home runs (23, 8th), RBI (91, 16th), and total bases (243, 11th). 

Waldman earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management and exercise science from Concordia in 2008 and spent the following two seasons as a graduate assistant at CSP. He previously worked as a Video Coordinator Intern for the Los Angeles Dodgers and as an Assistant Athletic Director at Hopkins High School. Waldman now works as a Real Estate Advisor for Engel & Völkers and a New Construction Specialist for R. Fleming Construction. He currently resides in Rochester, Minnesota, with his wife, Maddie, and son, Manny.
