Allendale, Mich. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's lacrosse team (6-11, 3-5 GLIAC) suffered a 15-7 loss to the Wildcats of Northern Michigan (13-5, 6-2 GLIAC) in the GLIAC Lacrosse Tournament Semifinals on a chilly Friday night at the GVSU Lacrosse Stadium.

Senior Susie Monson helped spark the Golden Bears attack with three points on route to becoming the program's all-time points leader, surpassing Maddie Hentges who played at CSP from 2017-20.

Monson finishes her time in the Navy and Gold with 197 career points, tallying 125 goals and 72 assists.

Joining Monson on the attack was the freshman duo of Shelby Marik and Alayna Roehl who each recorded two goals. Roehl added an assist to notch her third, three-plus point game of the season. The All-GLIAC freshman pair combined for 65 goals and at least one of them scored in each game this season.

Senior Natalie Brownfield led the defensive side of the field with three caused turnovers and one ground ball. She recorded a career-high 21 ground balls in her final season with the Navy and Gold.

In the first quarter, both teams came out ready for a defensive battle with either team finding their offensive spark.

With the score tied at 0-0, NMU found the net first in the second quarter, capitalizing on a man-up opportunity to take the first lead of the day.

The Wildcats responded just over a minute later with their second goal before Concorida found their footing. Roehl scored her first goal of the game to break into the Northern Michigan lead and start the scoring for the Navy and Gold.

Back-and-forth goals from both teams including Marik's first of the day and one from Sydney Smith would end the second quarter in favor of NMU 4-2.

The Golden Bears began the third quarter on a 2-0 run to tie the game for the second time at 4-4. From here on out Concordia's ability to stay close with the wildcats began to fade as NMU put together a six-goal run to end the quarter up 10-4.

Roehl opened the fourth quarter with her second goal of the game to try and fight back into the scoring with an assist from Monson.

Back-to-back goals for Northern Michigan would steal the chance of a comeback from CSP. A 3-2 run in favor of NMU would seal the Wildcats victory 15-7. Monson and Shelby Hansen were the goal scorers for Concordia.

With her goal, Hansen finishes her season scoring in 16-of-17 games with 25 goals.

Junior Marge Lucio earned her 12th start of the season where she made five saves, bringing her season total to 79 saves. She added three ground balls to her day in an effort to keep the ball in the hands of the Navy and Gold.

As a team, CSP went 20-24 on clear attempts and notched 13 shots on goal to NMU's 20. Both teams committed 19 turnovers while the Wildcats won 16-of-24 draw controls.

The Golden Bears are now 1-6 all-time in the GLIAC Tournament and have moved to 8-14 against the Wildcats.
