Eight Golden Bears earn All-GLIAC Lacrosse honors

Three earn repeat selections, five receive first honor

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC) has released the 2026 All-GLIAC Lacrosse teams following a vote by the league's head coaches on Friday night. The Golden Bears earn eight selections including four student-athletes on the First Team. 

Susie Monson, Claire Flahaven, Shelby Hansen and Shelby Marik all earn First Team honors, Alayna Roehl and Natalie Brownfield earn Second Team honors. Anna Palony and Ruby Swenson round out the selections on the Honorable Mention team. 

The four First Team selections set a program record and the eight selections this season bring the program total to 49 All-GLIAC performers. 

Flahaven becomes the first student-athlete in program history to become a four-time All-GLIAC First Team member, earning the honor each year of participation. 

Monson notches her fourth All-GLIAC honor and her second First-Team accolade of her career after earning back-to-back Second Team selections as a freshman and sophomore. 

Palony rounds out the repeat selections, earning her second Honorable Mention in back-to-back seasons for the Golden Bears. 

Brownfield records her first All-GLIAC award after a career senior campaign, wrapping up her time in the Navy and Gold with a GLIAC Defender of the Week and All-GLIAC Second Team honor. 

Marik and Roehl round out the selection, becoming All-GLIAC in their freshman campaign. Marik's First Team selection marks the first freshman to make the team since Flahaven in 2023. 


#4 Susie Monson (M, 5-4, Sr., Bloomington, Minn. / Kennedy HS)
Monson becomes a four-time All-GLIAC recipient after finishing the regular-season with a team-leading 44 points and 31 goals. Her total points ranked fifth in the GLIAC and she led the league's midfielders with 73 draw controls. Her all over pressure earned her two GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week awards. 


#11 Claire Flahaven (D, 5-4, Sr., Elk River, Minn. / Elk River HS)
Flahaven becomes the first player in program history to earn four All-GLIAC First Team honors after tallying a team-leading 41 ground balls and 32 caused turnovers this season. Her caused turnovers were T-2nd in the GLIAC and she found herself being named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week in week two after surpassing 100 career caused turnovers. 


#7 Shelby Hansen (A, 5-8, Jr., Cottage Grove, Minn. / Park HS)
Hansen earns her first All-GLIAC honor after her best season to date. She tallied 24 goals and 27 draw controls while finding the net in 15-of-16 games. She recorded a career-high six multi-point games including a career-high five goals against Davenport. Her total goals ranked ninth in the GLIAC.  


#26 Shelby Marik (M, 5-7, Fr., Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury HS)
Marik proved herself early for the Golden Bears and became the first freshman to earn All-GLIAC First Team honors since 2023. She led the team with 38 goals, ranking fourth in the GLIAC while leading all freshmen. Her 2.38 goals per game ranked third in the GLIAC and proved she will be someone to watch heading into the rest of her collegiate career. 


#27 Alayna Roehl (M, 5-8, Fr., Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park HS)
Roehl made her mark in her freshman campaign, notching 23 goals and 30 points. Her total points ranked top-10 in the GLIAC and second of all freshman. She recorded a goal in 13 games including a three-goal game in just the fourth game of the season. Her 65 shots and 55 shots on goal both ranked top-three on the team. 


#12 Natalie Brownfield (D, 5-6, Sr., Omaha, Neb. / Westside HS) 
Brownfield made her senior season count, having her best career season and earning her first All-GLIAC accolade. She tallied 36 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers to rank top-10 in both categories in the GLIAC. She was named the GLIAC Defender of the week for the first time after recording a career-high seven ground balls against SVSU. 


#5 Anna Palony (D, 5-6, Sr., Robbinsdale, Minn. / Robbinsdale Cooper HS)

Palony notched her second GLIAC Honorable Mention accolade after continuing her on-field excellence with 26 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. She ends her time in the Navy and Gold with back-to-back All-GLIAC honors. 


#31 Ruby Swenson (D, 5-3, So., Minnetonka, Minn. / Minnetonka HS)

Swenson made a big mark for the Golden Bears in year one with the Navy and Gold. She tallied 26 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers including back-to-back games with a career-high five ground balls. She earns her first All-GLIAC honor.
