ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's lacrosse team (4-8, 1-3 GLIAC) will return home for their final two-game weekend of the season where they will face the Lakers of Grand Valley State (5-7, 4-0 GLIAC) and Panthers of Davenport (7-5, 2-2 GLIAC).
Action will start with the Lakers on Friday, Apr. 10 at 6 p.m. inside the Concordia Dome for Mental Health Awareness night. The Golden Bears will play game two of the weekend on Sunday, Apr. 12 with first draw at 12 p.m. against the Panthers on Youth Day.
LAST TIME OUT
Game One: NMU 17, CSP 6
Leading the attack effort for the Golden Bears was freshman Alayna Roehl who notched her third multi-goal game of the season, scoring a pair of goals to bring her season total to 17.
Freshman Brooklynn Hedberg and Shelby Hansen each tallied a goal to show an offensive surge but the clock would run out on CSP. Northern Michigan won the final draw control to earn the 16-7 victory on their home turf.
On the defensive side senior Claire Flahaven made her mark, leading the team with five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Goalkeeper Marge Lucio earned her ninth start of the season, where she accumulated five ground balls and made nine saves. She now has 59 saves this season and 30 ground balls.
Monson added five draw controls to round out her day on the field; she extended her team-lead to 56 this season.
As a team, the Navy and Gold committed 20 turnovers and didn't have enough answers for the high-powered Wildcats attack led by Josie Lakowsky's eight goals to extend her GLIAC lead.
Concordia saw just 11 shots on goal compared to NMU's 22 and were held to nine won draw controls. Both teams recorded 15 clears and CSP held a slight ground ball advantage 18-16.
SEASON LEADERS
Freshman Shelby Marik has sustained her early success, leading the team with 29 goals (3rd in GLIAC). She is the only player to have scored a goal in every game this season.
Senior Susie Monson has extended her all-over pressure leading the team with 33 points (T-6th in GLIAC), 10 assists (T-5th in GLIAC) and 56 draw controls (2nd in GLIAC).
Senior Claire Flahaven's mainstay presence on the defense has seen her accumulate 24 caused turnovers (3rd in GLIAC), 2.00 caused turnovers per game (3rd in GLIAC) and 2.50 ground balls per game (7th in GLIAC).
Junior Marge Lucio leads the team with 59 saves and is tied with Flahaven with 20 ground balls.
MILESTONE WATCH
Susie Monson sits at 183 career points, 17 away from 200. She is also only 12 points away from being the program's all-time leader in points.
Natalie Brownfield sits at 46 caused turnovers, four away from 50.
Anna Palony sits at 47 caused turnovers, three away from 50.
Sydney Smith sits at 44 career goals, six away from 50.
Shelby Hansen sits at 45 career points, five away from 50.
Marge Lucio sits at 87 career ground balls, 13 away from 100.
ABOUT THE LAKERS
Grand Valley State posted a (16-4, 8-0 GLIAC) record during the 2025 season and were picked to finish first in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 16 points after winning their fifth straight GLIAC Tournament Championship.
GVSU has advanced to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances and have held the reins on the GLIAC Regular-Season Title for the past 12 seasons.
Last season, the Lakers made it to the Second Round of the NCAA Midwest Regional, falling 17-14 to No. 4 Maryville.
Grand Valley State currently sits at (5-7, 4-0 GLIAC) and rides a five-game winning streak including a 4-0 start to GLIAC play. Last week, the Lakers saw wins over both Davenport and Saginaw Valley State.
Leading GVSU is senior midfielder Ella Boose who has a team-leading 25 goals. Boose was an All-GLIAC Second-Team recipient last season after recording 31 goals, 43 points and 19 draw controls.
HISTORY BETWEEN CSP AND GVSU
The two programs have met a total of 15 times dating back to March 25, 2018. Grand Valley State is 15-0 all-time against the Navy and Gold.
Last season, the two teams saw their closest meetings to date at the time with the Lakers winning 17-10 in the first game and 10-5 in the second. Monson tallied five goals between the two games.
This season, the two programs met where Grand Valley State earned a 7-4 win, the closest game result to date. Marik led the game with two goals.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Davenport posted a (9-8, 3-5 GLIAC) record in the 2025 season and were picked to finish fourth in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll with seven points, right behind Concordia.
The Panthers currently sit at (7-5, 2-2 GLIAC) under head coach Frank Rogers who is in his first season with the program.
During this past week of play, Davenport fell to both Northern Michigan and Grand Valley State by small margins.
Leading the Panthers this season is attack Addison Roe who has notched a team-leading 30 goals, scoring at least two goals a game through their first nine games.

The two programs have met a total of 17 times dating back to March 29, 2018 where CSP earned a 13-8 win in Grand Rapids. Concordia is 11-6 all-time against Davenport and has won five of the last seven games.
Last season, the Golden Bears swept the Panthers in two close games led by Anna Fisher who scored a career-high six goals in game one and Susie Monson who recorded four goals and 10 draw controls in game two.
Earlier this season, the Panthers topped the Golden Bears 10-6 in Grand Rapids. Leading the effort for CSP was Marik with a team-leading two goals.
