ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's lacrosse team (5-9, 2-4 GLIAC) will travel to Saginaw Valley State (1-10, 0-4 GLIAC) to face the Cardinals in their last regular-season road game.
Action will take place on Friday, Apr. 17 in University Center, Mich. at Braddock Field. First-draw is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
LAST TIME OUT
Game One: GVSU 16, CSP 2
The Golden Bears offensive effort was led by goals from Shelby Hansen and Alayna Roehl, scoring their 16th and 18th respective goals of the season. Both Hansen and Roehl have scored in the last five straight games.
Grand Valley State came out ready to play and never looked back, starting the game on a 8-0 scoring run before Hansen broke through in the second quarter. Even turnovers from both sides gave Concordia offensive possession but a stellar Lakers defense had every answer.
Junior Marge Lucio earned her 10th start of the season in net where she made four saves to bring her season total to 63. Junior Erika Holm came in for relief during the second half where she made six saves to bring her season total to 28.
Leading the defense was Claire Flahaven and Natalie Brownfield who combined for eight ground balls, five caused turnovers and two draw controls.
Senior Susie Monson tallied five draw controls to bring her season total to 61 and freshman Shelby Marik notched a team-leading five shots with three coming on goal but was unable to find the net for the first time of her career.
As a team, both programs were even at 25 turnovers and 25 ground balls with Grand Valley State out-shooting the Golden Bears 28-23 and 26-16 on goal.
Concordia could not find their way to the offensive zone and were held to just 11-for-22 on clear attempts.
Game Two: CSP 17, DU 12
Junior Shelby Hansen shined the brightest for the Golden Bears, marking a career-high day with five goals. She is now up to 21 goals this season, more than double her goal total through her first two seasons in the Navy and Gold. Hansen has all scored in all but one game this season.
Joining Hansen on the attack was freshman Shelby Marik who notched her ninth multi-goal game of the season, recording four goals to bring her season total 33.
Susie Monson, Sydney Smith and Alayna Roehl each added a pair of goals with Lauren Barnacle and Jayde Isaacson tallying one to mark the most goals in a game since the 17-6 victory over Saginaw earlier this season.
CSP is now 12-6 all-time against the Panthers and are 6-2 in their last eight match ups. Concordia has also won their last five straight home games against Davenport.
From the first-draw the Golden Bears showed a spark that the crowd had been waiting to see, never falling behind and capitalizing on offensive chances.
Junior goalkeeper Erika Holm saw her best game of the season, earning her third win of the year behind eight saves in a full 60-minute outing. She is now up to 42 saves this season and is 3-1 while in the net.
The junior also picked up five ground balls to help get the ball back in the hands of the Golden Bears throughout the contest.
Joining Holm on the defense was Natlaie Brownfield and Claire Flahaven. Brownfield gathered five ground balls while Flahaven picked up one and recorded a team-high three caused turnovers.
The Navy and Gold won 18 draw controls, their second highest of the season with four each from Flahaven, Marik and Monson.
As a team, the Navy and Gold tallied 30 shots on goal, 20 ground balls and 13 successful clears. Davenport was held to 20 shots on goal and committed 25 turnovers.
SEASON LEADERS
Freshman Shelby Marik has cemented herself as a mainstay on the Golden Bears attack, leading the team with 33 goals (2nd in GLIAC). Her 91 attempted shots rank T-5th in single-season program history.
Senior Susie Monson has continued her all-around high level of play, leading the team with 37 points (8th in GLIAC) from 25 goals (8th in GLIAC) and 12 assists (5th in GLIAC). Her 65 draw controls rank second in the GLIAC.
Senior Claire Flahaven's excellence on the defensive side has reigned true, her 28 caused turnovers ranks T-3rd in the GLIAC and her 35 ground balls rank T-6th.
Junior goalkeepers Marge Lucio and Erika Holm have combined for 105 saves.

Susie Monson sits at 187 career points, 13 away from 200. She is also only eight points away from being the program's all-time leader in points.
Monson sits at 296 career draw controls, four away from 300. She is also at 90 career ground balls, 10 away from 100.
Anna Palony sits at 48 career caused turnovers, two away from 50.
Sydney Smith sits at 46 career goals, four away from 50.
Shelby Hansen sits at 99 career shots, one away from 100.
Marge Lucio sits at 90 career ground balls, 10 away from 100.
Erika Holm sits at 82 career saves, 18 away from 100.
Claire Flahaven sits at 83 career draw controls, 17 away from 100.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Saginaw Valley State posted a (0-13, 0-8 GLIAC) record in their inaugural 2025 campaign and were picked to finish fifth in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll with four points.
The Cardinals currently sit at (1-10, 0-4 GLIAC) after suffering losses to Grand Valley State and McKendree during their last week of play. SVSU earned their first win in program history earlier this season against Northwood but has been held winless since.
Leading Saginaw Valley State is midfielder Briar-Rose Mackey who has recorded 13 goals, 15 ground balls and 19 draw controls.
HISTORY BETWEEN CSP AND SVSU
The two programs have met three times dating back to last season during SVSU's inaugural campaign. CSP is 3-0 all-time by a combined goal margin of 55-11.
In the first meeting, Concordia earned a dominant 18-3 win led by hat-tricks from Susie Monson, Sydney Smith and Shelby Hansen.
During the second meeting, CSP picked up right where they left off, winning by a score of 20-2. Leading the effort for the Golden Bears was Cayla Jungwirth who scored a senior day hat-trick to wrap-up her home playing career.
Earlier this season, the Cardinals came to St. Paul where the Navy and Gold clawed fast for their third straight win over SVSU by a score of 17-6. Shelby Marik, Alayna Roehl and Monson combined for 13 goals to lead the offensive attack for Concordia.
