ST. PAUL, Minn. — After putting together a 4-0 start to NSIC play, the Concordia-St. Paul softball team heads west for a four game road trip, as they take on Northern State and Jamestown this weekend.
On Saturday, March 28 the Golden Bears head to Aberdeen, South Dakota to take on the Wolves in a doubleheader, with start times slated for 1 and 3 p.m. On Sunday, March 29 the Golden Bears head north to Jamestown, North Dakota to take on the Jimmies in a doubleheader with first pitch set for 12 and 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
CSP got conference play started with a perfect 4-0 weekend, grabbing a pair of wins over UMary in shutout fashion, 4-0 and 3-0 at the Husky Dome in St. Cloud. On Sunday the Golden Bears swept Minot State in a doubleheader, rallying late in both games to grab a pair of come from behind wins, 4-3 in nine innings and 6-4 in seven innings.
The perfect weekend improved CSP's record to 15-12 overall on the season and 4-0 in conference play.
Emmy Bowne led the way in the circle, making two starts and one relief appearance in four games to the tune of a 0.86 ERA in 17.2 innings of work with seven punchouts, picking up two wins to improve to 6-6 on the season. Bowne made one relief appearance, closing out a 6-4 win over Minot and earning the third save of her career.
Tatum Dunlavy made two starts for the Golden Bears tossing 7.1 innings with 1.97 ERA, giving up two earned runs and picking up two strikeouts. Abi Carter tossed 6.0 innings of relief with a 2.16 ERA, two strikeouts, picking up two wins to improve to 4-1 on the season.
At the plate, Alexis Monty led the way picking up six hits in 12 trips to the plate, driving in three runs. Monty smacked two triples and drove in two runs in the 4-0 win over UMary on Saturday afternoon.
Riley Rosenthal picked four hits in 12 at bats, while scoring two runs. Danni Sharum had a 3-for-9 weekend at the plate, with one RBI, Nora Brandt had four hits in 13 at bats with one double and one RBI. Bryleigh Dana notched two multi-hit games, with a pair of 2-for-3 games, collecting two doubles and three RBI.
Season Leaders
Riley Rosenthal leads the Golden Bears in average this season, batting .371 with a .404 on base percentage and a .461 slugging percentage. Rosenthal is tied for the team lead with four doubles this season, while driving in 12 runs.
Shortstop Alexis Monty has a .333/.469/.480 slash line this season, while leading the team with a .949 OPS. Monty has four doubles, two triples and one home run this season, with 11 RBI, a team leading 17 walks and 10 stolen bases.
Nora Brandt is batting .325 this season with a .818 OPS, smacking four doubles and two triples while driving in 14 runs. Danni Sharum is batting .279 with a team leading two home runs and 15 RBI, Ava Blake is batting .309 this season with eight RBI and Katie Klotz has a .276 average with one home run and five RBI.
In the circle Emmy Bowne leads the way with a 3.27 ERA in 81.1 innings pitched which ranks fifth in the NSIC. Bowne has tossed 10 complete games this season which is good for third in the NSIC, while leading the team with 44 strikeouts, pitching to a 6-6 record in 14 starts this season.
Tatum Dunlavy has 5-5 record in the circle this season, with a 3.36 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 58.1 innings pitched with a 5-5 record. In 11 relief appearances this season, Abi Carter has a 1.50 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 32.2 innings pitched with a 4-1 record.

In 53 matchups with the Wolves, CSP has won 43 times taking each of the first 27 matchups with Northern from 2000 to 2011. In more recent history the Golden Bears are riding an active eight game winning streak against the Wolves dating back to April of 2022. CSP has dropped just one game in the last 12 meetings with NSU dating back to 2018, with the lone loss being a 5-0 game in Rochester, Minnesota in 2021.
Northern State is off to a 8-12 start this season, going 0-4 to open NSIC play after dropping a doubleheader to both Minnesota State and Winona State last weekend. NSU took a 15-7 loss and a 10-0 loss to the Warriors, before falling 5-4 and 9-1 to the Mavericks.
The Wolves offense is led by Sydney Anderson and Tevan Bryant, Anderson leads the team in average, batting .394 with a .988 OPS this season. Bryant is batting .381 with a 1.272 OPS, with a team leading four roundtrippers, 23 RBI and a .738 slugging percentage.
Corina Coppersmith is batting .361 with a .928 OPS and eight RBI. Aune Boben is batting .358 with a .884 OPS, five doubles, one home run and 12 RBI.
In the circle the Wolves are led by McKenzie Wanner, with a 4-6 record, 3.67 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 63.0 innings pitched while tossing seven complete games. Tess Miller has tossed 21.0 innings for Northern this season with a 8.33 ERA and a 1-0 record. Dessa Bryant has made nine appearances and started four games with a 5.15 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched.
Kaley Ness is in her second season as the head coach of the Wolves, in her first season at the helm she coached Northern State to a record of 13-36.

Sunday's doubleheader will mark just the second meeting between the Golden Bears and the NSIC's newest member the Jamestown Jimmies. The two schools last met on March 23, 2002 in St. Paul where the Jimmies came away with a 7-2 win.
The Jimmies are 19-8 this season, but fell to 0-4 in NSIC play after dropping two doubleheaders to Minnesota State and Winona State last weekend. Jamestown took a 3-0 loss and a 4-3 loss to the Mavericks on Friday, before falling 3-0 and 2-0 to Winona State on Saturday.
Trinity Gregg leads the Jimmies at the plate with a .434 average and a 1.098 OPS this season, smacking four doubles, four triples and driving in 16 runs. Maddie Spaeth is second on the team with a .415 average, a .998 OPS, six doubles, one home run and a team leading 21 RBI.
Sydney Grendler is batting .328 with a .918 OPS, a team leading two home runs and 11 RBI this season.
In the circle, the Jimmies are led by Aubrey Quinn, who has a 1.43 ERA, 70 strikeouts and a 6-1record in 53.2 innings pitched. Abby Blair has a 6-2 record with a 2.81 ERA in 47.1 innings pitched this season, while collecting 30 punchouts.
