Leo takes All-America finish on day one of NCAA Championships

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Concordia-St. Paul junior Sophie Leo made a big splash on day one of the 2025-26 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with a 12th place finish in the 50-Yard Freestyle at the Deaconess Aquatic Center on Wednesday evening.

Sophie Leo etched her name in the CSP record books with the first All-America Honorable Mention finish from a swimmer in program history. 

Leo swam a lifetime best time of 22.99 to set a new school record and finish in 12th place during the consolation finals, the highest CSP NCAA swimming finish to date.

In prelims, Leo swam a 23.01 to book herself a trip to finals, becoming the first swimmer to make finals at the NCAA Championships for Concordia. 

Kirabo Namutebi from UIndy took the top spot with a time of 22.10, becoming the National Champion.

Leo will return to the pool tomorrow morning for the 200-yard freestyle prelims at 10 a.m.
