MINNEAPOLIS – The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Gopher Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday afternoon, tallying 17 top-10 finishes.

The Concordia men were highlighted by a trio of NCAA provisional qualifying performances, including two in the shot put and one in the triple jump. Senior Cade Feist placed third in the shot put with a distance of 54' 10", a mark that ranks fifth in the NSIC and 29th in all of Division II this season. Fellow senior Dan Otto was just behind him in fourth place, recording a mark of 53' 11.75" that ranks seventh in the NSIC and 41st in Division II.

In the triple jump, freshman Fadel Johnson Jr. hit a provisional mark for the second consecutive week, placing second with a distance of 48' 4.5". Johnson's triple jump distance of 48' 5.5" set last week at the Mark Schuck Open still ranks as the third highest in the NSIC while sitting 33rd in Division II.

Freshman Jayden Kuhlman picked up the first individual event win of his young career in the 600-meter, clocking a time of 1:24.73.

On the women's side, sophomore Kayla Anderson set a new personal record in the mile with a time of 5:22.68, placing first in the 38-participant unseeded field.

Junior Desiree Loyd also picked up an individual event win, claiming first place in the high jump with a height of 5' 3".

Senior Maya Lavendusky recorded a new season-best distance in the shot put, using a toss of 42' 11" to place third in the event.

Sophomore Bernie Barnhardt set a new personal record in the weight throw, placing fourth with a toss of 53' 8.25".

The Golden Bears will head west next weekend for the SDSU Classic hosted at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D.
