ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's lacrosse team (1-1, 0-0 GLIAC) is set for a two-game homestand week with games against the Flyers of Lewis and Bearcats of McKendree in the Concordia Dome.
Action will start with the Flyers on Friday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. and conclude with the Bearcats on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 12 p.m.
RECAP OF THE WEEK
Game One: CSP 21, NU 2
The Golden Bears 21 goals scored is the most over a Division II institution since a 24-1 victory over Upper Iowa during the 2022 season.
13 players found the net in the victory for the most since last season's 20-2 victory over Saginaw Valley State where 14 players scored.
Each Golden Bear saw action in the win, including all 12 freshmen with six of them recording a multi-point game.
Senior Susie Monson notched a team-high three goals for her 16th career hat-trick while adding an assist for four total points. Monson added a team-leading four ground balls, three caused turnovers and eight draw controls.
Earning the first start of the season in net was sophomore Marge Lucio. She made one save in 45-minutes of action, earning the win before Erika Holm entered the net for the final quarter. Holm made three saves to wrap-up the game/
As a team, the Navy and Gold outshot the Timberwolves 38-7 and went 15-17 on clear attempts. NU committed 30 turnovers and went 8-21 on clear attempts.
Game Two: No. 6 MU 19, CSP 1
Freshman Shelby Marik was the lone-goal scorer for the Golden Bears, tallying her third of the season in just her second career game.
The Saints found their control early in the first quarter and never looked back, going on a 11-0 run before Marik found the net with 11 seconds left of the first half.
Maryville out-shot the Navy and Gold 27-10 and held them to just nine successful clear attempts. Both teams were even in draw controls with 11 each.
Marge Lucio got her second start of the season in net where she made five saves before Erika Holm came in for the second half and made three saves.
Shelby Hasen saw a team-leading three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
SEASON LEADERS
Susie Monson and Shelby Marik lead the team with three goals each after the opening weekend with Monson holding a team-leading four points.
Monson also leads the Navy and Gold in caused turnovers (4) and draw controls (14). Her 7.00 draw controls per game ranks seventh in NCAA Division II.
Goalkeeper Marge Lucio leads the team with seven ground balls in her two starts. She tallied six shots and went 1-1 in the net. Her 8.80 GAA ranks 14th in NCAA Division II.
As a team, the Golden Bears rank 12th in NCAA Division II with 7.50 assists per game and 22.50 ground balls per game.
ABOUT THE FLYERS
Lewis posted a (6-11, 2-5 GLVC) record in the 2025 season and were picked to finish fifth in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 18 points.
The Flyers opened their season with a 1-0 win over familiar GLIAC foe Saginaw Valley State on Tuesday.
Leading the attack for Lewis was Jade McKinnon who scored a team-leading five goals. She also tallied four ground balls and five caused turnovers.
HISTORY BETWEEN CSP AND LEWIS
The two programs have met a total of five times dating back to March 29, 2019 where CSP got a 17-8 victory.
The Golden Bears are 5-0 all-time against the Flyers including last season's 12-8 win in Romeoville, Ill. Leading the game for the Navy and Gold was Anna Fisher who scored six goals on nine shots.
ABOUT THE BEARCATS
McKendree posted a (5-12, 2-5 GLVC) record in the 2025 season and were picked to finish sixth in the GLVC Coaches' Poll with 17 points.
The Bearcats will kick-off their season on Thursday, facing another familiar GLIAC foe in Northern Michigan before traveling to St. Paul for Friday's game.
Leading the Bearcats will be returner Jayna Barnden who scored a team-leading 63 goals and was named All-GLVC First-Team last season, ranking top-25 in NCAA total goals, goals per game, points per games, shots per game and shots on goal.
HISTORY BETWEEN CSP AND MCKENDREE
The two programs have met a total of seven times dating back to March 5, 2017 where the Bearcats got a dominant 19-2 win over CSP. McKendree holds a slight 4-3 all-time advantage with Concordia looking to even the score this week.
The Golden Bears have won their last three straight meetings including last season's 11-5 win in Lebanon, Ill. Leading the game for CSP was Sydney Smith who scored three goals on seven shots.
