VerSteeg’s sixth place finish highlights Lucian Rosa Invitational for CSP cross country

The CSP men took 10th place while the women finished 14th in Kenosha.

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Lucian Rosa Invitational at the Wayne E. Dannehal National Cross Country Course this morning. The Golden Bear women managed a 14th place finish at the event while the men finished in 10th place.

The CSP women accumulated a total of 354 placement points, while the men recorded a total of 271 placement points. 

Estee VerSteeg was the top individual finisher for the women coming in with a time of 22:48.8 and a sixth place finish. The finish is a season best placement for the freshman, besting her 27th place finish at the Augie Twilight. 

The finish is the best time and placement by a women's runner at the Wayne E. Dannehl Course, beating out the previous record time of 24:55.8 set by Avery Sivonen in 2021. 

Kayla Anderson finished in 67th place, coming in with a time of 24:34.5. Anderson's placement is her best of the season, after finishing 119th at the Roy Griak Invite earlier this season. 

Lauryn Rosenthal came in behind Anderson with a time of 26:58.1 and a 147th place finish. In her second career race Elizabeth Zenda-Johnson finished with a time of 29:58.6 and a 184th place finish. 

Noelle Boyd rounded things out for the women, with a time of 30:56.1 and a 191st place finish. 

On the men's side Travis Tock led the way with a 55th place finish and a time of 28:29.5. Josh Krummel came in behind Tock with a time of  29:06.3 to finish in 77th place. 

Freshman Austin Burgess ran a time of 29:32.4, finishing in 87th place. Zay Acosta finished just behind Burgess with a time of 29:48.3 in 96th place, Jordan Stumm rounded things out for CSP with a 30:09.9 finish, good for 104th place. 

Cornerstone took the top team spot on the men's side with 60 placement points. Cornerstone took the top women's spot as well with 60 placement points. 

The Golden Bears return to action Friday, October 23 for the Winona State Invitational in West Salem, Wisconsin. The meet is slated to start at 1 p.m.

·   Our women's team's 13th-place finish was the second highest finish they have achieved as a team at the Lucian Rosa Invite.

6 - Estee VerSteeg - 22:48.9 – Estee sets a CSP course record at the UW-Parkside course.  Estee has the highest finish by a CSP runner at a Cross Country Meet since Matt Helser finished 5th at the 2023 St. Olaf Invitational.  It is the highest finish by a CSP female runner at a Cross Country Meet since Kara Lindberg finished 3rd at the 2019 Trent Smith Invitational.  Estee runs the 4th-fastest cross-country 6K by a CSP runner in school history.  Estee establishes the 2nd fastest 6K race by a CSP first-year runner in school history.

 67 - Kayla Anderson - 24:34.6 – Kayla runs the 2nd fastest CSP 6K race at the UW-Parkside course in school history.

147 - Lauryn Rosenthal - 26:58.2 – Lauryn runs the 6th fastest CSP 6K race at the UW-Parkside course in school history.

184 - Elizabeth Zenda-Johnson - 29:58.7 – Elizabeth has the biggest "improvement" of the 21 runners across all teams that ran at the Roy Griak Invite 3 weeks ago and the Lucian Rosa today.  The average time difference of the UW-Parkside was that the course ran on average 1 minute and 43 seconds slower than the Roy Griak Invite, which ran 3 weeks ago.  Elizabeth ran an extremely impressive 16 seconds within her time 3 weeks ago.  The next-best time was set by a Northern Michigan woman, who ran within 51 seconds.
