Camilli sits in second after one day of competition at BSU Invite

Junior Chase Camilli shot a 69 (-2) and tallied six birdies, as the Golden Bears finished round one in third place.

Bemidji, Minn. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team got its 2024-25 season underway at the BSU Invite on Monday. The Golden Bears are in third place at the end of the first round at the Bemidji Town and Country Club. 

Chase Camilli shot a 69 (-2) in round one to finish the day in second place. The junior golfer tallied six birdies on the day including four on the front nine. A Birdie on the 500-yard, par five, fourth hole kickstarted a three-hole birdie run for Camilli, before closing out the front nine with another birdie on the ninth hole, par five. On the back nine, Camilli birdied on the 10th and 12th holes to cap off a solid first round of play. 

Josh Esterley shot a 72 (+1) to end the day in 12th-place on the individual leaderboard. Esterley started off shooting a 36 on the front nine, including two birdies on holes five and six, adding another birdie on hole 16 to finish the day one-over-par. 

Freshman Carson Boe put together a solid first round in his collegiate debut, shooting a 73 (+2) to finish the day in 14th-place. Senior Trey Timm shot a 77 (+6) on the day to finish in 32nd-place, junior Camden O'Malley sits in 43rd-place after shooting a 78 (+7) in round one. 

Concordia finished round one with a team score of 369 (+7), good for third-place at the end of round one,  one stroke ahead of fourth-place Augustana. The Golden Bears currently sit three strokes behind second-place Minnesota State.

Bemidji State finished the day atop the team leaderboard with a team score of 354 (-7) and an 11 stroke lead over second-place Minnesota State. 

Logan Schoepp of Bemidji State finished the day as the individual leader, after shooting a 64 (-7). Schoepp tallied five birdies and one eagle with a bogey free scorecard to finish the day with a five stroke lead. 

 The Golden Bears are back in action Tuesday morning for the final round of the BSU Invite at the Bemidji Country Club.
