BEMIDJI, Minn. — The Concordia-St. Paul men's golf team finished second at the BSU Invite in Bemidji Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Bears finished the day with a team score of 288 (+4), finishing two strokes ahead of third-place Minnesota State.
Chase Camilli entered the final round of the tournament in third-place.Camilli started round two with a bogey-free front nine, the junior birdied the 500-yard, par five, fourth hole to head into the turn one-under-par. Camilli birdied once on the back nine and finished the day with a score of 71 (E).
The even par performance gave Camilli a final tournament score of 140 (-2) good for a three-way tie for second place with Bemidji State's Teagan LaPlante and Julius Arenkiel.
Junior Josh Esterley put together a strong final round, tallying six birdies including four on the front nine to finish the day with a score of 70 (-1). Esterly began the day with a three-hole birdie run on the third hole, before closing the front nine with a birdie to sit at one-under-par at the turn.
Esterley's strong second round gave him an overall tournament score of 142 (E) good enough to finish in a three way tie for sixth-place.
Freshman Carson Boe birdied once on the ninth hole, finishing the day with a score of 72 (+1), putting together a tournament score of 145 (+3) and in 11th-place overall.
Trey Timm tallied one birdie on the day posting a score of 75 (+4) for a tournament score of 152 (+10). The senior finished tied for 33rd in the individual competition.
Camden O'Malley tallied two birdies, putting together a score of 79 (+8) in the final round. The junior comes away with a tournament score of 157 (+15) for a 49th-place finish.
Freshman Sean Leutner posted a score of 70 (-1) in round one and 71 (E) in round two for a total score of 141 (-1) to finish in 5th-place in the individual standings.
Tournament host Bemidji State finished in first-place with a team score of 559 (-9). Bemidji's Logan Schoepp finished atop the individual leaderboard posting a score of 134 (-8) for the tournament, finishing the tournament six strokes ahead of the three second-place finishers.
The Golden Bears look to ride their second-place finish into their home meet, the CSP Brawl. The tournament is hosted by CSP at the Troy Burne Golf Course in Hudson, Wisconsin on Sept. 15-16.
